    • Swats another homer
Goodman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Monday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Goodman made his second straight start at DH and belted a two-run blast in the ninth inning. The 24-year-old slugged two homers two days earlier while making a start at catcher. Goodman is still slashing just .195/.235/.455 of the season, but he's shown promising power with five long balls over 81 plate appearances. He'd become much more intriguing from a fantasy perspective if he logs enough games behind the plate to earn positional eligibility there. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:25 pm

    • Records first steal
Brooks went 0-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Monday's 7-6 win over the Cubs.

Advice: The steal was Brooks' first at the major-league level. The 28-year-old has seen most of his playing time at first base, but he's hitting just .143 over his first nine contests, which hasn't been good enough to keep Wilmer Flores on the bench. Brooks has added a meager .393 OPS, one RBI, three runs scored and a 3:6 BB:K through 24 plate appearances. Brooks' time on the major-league roster may come to a close when LaMonte Wade (hamstring) is able to return from the injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:20 pm
    • Belts homer in loss
Busch went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk against the Giants in Monday's loss.

Advice: Busch gave Chicago its first lead with a two-run blast to center field in the sixth inning. It was his first long ball over his past 17 contests and just his second across his past 32 games. Busch began the campaign with six homers through 16 contests, so the fact that he's still yet to reach double digits in that category emphasizes the extent to which he's slowed down. Still, the first baseman has been hitting well lately, batting .370 over his past 27 at-bats. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:47 pm

    • Report: A’s designating J.D. Davis for assignment
The A’s have decided to cut J.D. Davis, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Advice: This is the move to make room for Lawrence Butler. We’re hard-pressed to see how Davis is worse than Seth Brown or even Abraham Toro, who has been pretty terrible since the A’s decided to make him their leadoff man. Still, none of this really matters — none of these guys are going to be part of the next competitive A’s team — but Davis might help someone else down the stretch. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:31 pm

    • Designated for assignment
Davis was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Monday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Davis will now be available to be claimed off waivers and if he has no takers, Oakland is expected to release the 31-year-old. After being released by the Giants in March, Davis compiled a .236 average with four home runs, five RBI and 12 runs scored over 123 at-bats in 39 games with the Athletics this season. Based off his track record, Davis will likely find a new suitor in the near future. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:50 pm

    • Back on bench Monday
Cave is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Cave had started in 11 of the Rockies' last 12 games, but he'll head to the bench with Nolan Jones having returned from the injured list and with Brenton Doyle (knee) back in the lineup after a two-game absence. Though Cave has turned in a serviceable .250/.341/.389 slash line thus far in June, he could be relegated to a bench role now that Colorado has reclaimed some health in the outfield. • Report: Anthony Rizzo out 4-6 weeks with fracture
Anthony Rizzo was diagnosed with a fractured right arm following Sunday’s collision at first base and is likely to miss 4-6 weeks, The Athletic reports.

Advice: One wonders if Rizzo will have a job to come back to at that point. The Yankees will likely go with DJ LeMahieu at first and Oswaldo Cabrera at third for now. They’ll be on the lookout for an upgrade at first prior to the trade deadline; fortunately, it shouldn’t be hard to find better options. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:25 pm
    • Dealing with arm fracture
Rizzo (arm) suffered a fracture to the radial neck of his right arm and could miss 4-to-6 weeks, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Rizzo suffered the injury in the seventh inning of Sunday's 9-3 loss and he'll now likely be sidelined until at least the All-Star break. With the Yankees off Monday, the first baseman seems set to be officially placed on the injured list Tuesday, while his replacement on the roster is still unknown. In Rizzo's absence, DJ LeMahieu could see the majority of his workload over at first base while Oswaldo Cabrera picks up some starts at the hot corner. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:18 pm
    • Taking seat Monday
Flores is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: Flores had started at first base in each of the Giants' last five games, with three starts coming versus lefties and two coming versus right-handers. Though the Giants seem content to deploy Flores as their primary first baseman rather than a platoon bat while LaMonte Wade (hamstring) is on the injured list, Flores will nonetheless give way to rookie Trenton Brooks on Monday.
