Spence (4-4) took the loss Tuesday, allowing six runs on eight hits and a walk across 5.1 innings against the Angels. He struck out six.

Advice: Spence surrendered his most runs in an outing this season Tuesday, with five of those runs coming in the fourth inning. The rookie right-hander allowed the first four batters he faced in the fourth to reach safely before Mickey Moniak cleared the bases with a grand slam. While Spence has been a bit inconsistent as a starter, he owns a 4.40 ERA in starts along with a 34:9 K:BB over 43.0 innings. He's projected for a rematch against the Angels early next week. • Spins six scoreless
Wilson (5-3) picked up the win Tuesday against the Rangers, allowing three hits with no walks across six scoreless innings. He struck out four.

Advice: For the fourth time in his last six appearances, Wilson worked in bulk relief, taking the mound in the third inning after Hoby Milner opened the contest. Still, Wilson was able to complete six innings for the first time since May 6 as part of his best outing as a Brewer. The 26-year-old has been incredibly volatile across his last four appearances, yielding at least five runs twice but giving up no runs in the other pair of games. Overall, Wilson owns a 3.89 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP over 74.0 innings. While it's unclear if he'll follow an opener again, he's on track to pitch in Colorado early next week. • Loses again
Heaney (2-9) took the loss Tuesday against Milwaukee, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Heaney fell to his ninth loss of 2024, a total that only trails Dakota Hudson. However, seven of those losses have come despite Heaney allowing three or fewer earned runs, a result of inconsistent defense and a Rangers' offensive attack that's underwhelmed compared to expectations. Still, Heaney has been a reliable option since the start of May, owning a 3.26 ERA and a 49:11 K:BB in 49.2 innings. The lefty is tentatively scheduled to start Sunday at Baltimore. • Lands rare save
Peguero picked up the save Tuesday against the Rangers, striking out one during a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: With Trevor Megill having pitched the past two days, Peguero stepped into the closing role Tuesday and fired a perfect inning for his second save of the season. The effort was a rebound for Peguero, who yielded four hits and two runs (one earned) across his previous two innings. Peguero owns a 5-2 record with a 2.81 ERA across 32.0 innings this season. • Handed loss Tuesday
Hernandez (0-1) took the loss versus the Marlins on Tuesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning.

Advice: Hernandez hadn't given up a run over his first 3.2 innings back in the majors since his recall June 18. That changed in the seventh inning Tuesday, as the Marlins got RBI singles from Nick Gordon and Jazz Chisholm to flip the script on the Royals. Hernandez has allowed three runs (two earned) with a 3:4 K:BB over seven innings across eight appearances this year. While initially though to be an option for high-leverage work, Hernandez suffered a shoulder impingement in spring training and has yet to record a save or hold in the majors this year. • Grabs win Tuesday
Avila (2-1) walked three batters over 2.1 scoreless and hitless innings to earn the win over the Orioles on Tuesday.

Advice: While it wasn't conventionally a strong outing, it got the job done for the Guardians after starter Logan Allen was limited to three innings. Avila is riding a 17.2-inning scoreless streak, during which he has an 18:9 K:BB and one save from a three-inning appearance versus the Marlins on June 8. The reliever has maintained a 2.23 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 34:12 K:BB over 32.1 innings with the Guardians after he was traded from the Padres in April. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:12 pm

    • Mitch Spence gives up six runs to Angels in loss
Mitch Spence was tagged for six runs in 5 1/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Angels.

Advice: Spence has strictly alternated good and bad outings in eight starts since joining the A’s rotation, so if you like to put any stock in that kind of thing, he could bounce back while facing the Angels again next time out. We’d continue to shy away, though. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:38 pm

    • Takes hard-luck loss
Hendricks (1-5) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out four over seven innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Giants.

Advice: Hendricks has faced the Giants in each of his two starts since returning to the rotation. He's limited them to three runs over 12.2 innings with a 12:2 K:BB, but he's gone 1-1 in those outings. It's still a positive sign after his awful start to the campaign landed him a demotion to the bullpen, where he surrendered five runs over 14.1 innings across five appearances. He's now at a 6.87 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 43:17 K:BB over 57.2 innings through 14 appearances (nine starts) this year. Hendricks is tentatively projected to make his next start at home in a tough matchup against the Phillies. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:33 pm
    • Awarded win Tuesday
Rogers (1-2) pitched a perfect inning and was awarded the win Tuesday over the Cubs.

Advice: The Giants led from the second inning on during the bullpen game. Rogers was the first reliever to post a clean outing, and the official scorer handed him his first win of the campaign. Aside from a June 18 three-run meltdown versus these same Cubs in Chicago, Rogers has had a good month. He's kept runs off the board in his other 10 appearances while adding four holds in a setup role. For the season, he's at a 2.92 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 27:2 K:BB with a save, 12 holds and a blown save across 37 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:26 pm
