• Getting Monday off
Amaya is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Amaya will receive a breather after he drew starts behind the dish in each of the Cubs' last three games. Yan Gomes will handle the catching duties in Monday's series opener. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago

  • Hits on field Monday
Yelich (back) did some hitting on the field Monday, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.

Advice: It's the first time Yelich has hit on the field since he went on the injured list three weeks ago with a lower-back strain. Brewers manager Pat Murphy had indicated previously that it would likely be the final step before Yelich returns to action, although it's not clear whether he might need to go out on a rehab assignment first. The 32-year-old was off to a .333/.422/.744 start with five home runs in 11 contests before getting hurt. Rotowire.com 50 minutes ago

  • Not starting Monday
Wisdom is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Wisdom had served as the Cubs' designated hitter in three of the past four games, going 4-for-11 with a home run, a double, two two walks, two RBI, three runs and two stolen bases during that stretch. Christopher Morel will get a day out of the field and will be deployed at DH, but Wisdom could have a hold on a near-everyday role until Seiya Suzuki (oblique) returns from the injured list. • Walker Buehler (elbow) activated for start vs. MIA
Dodgers activated RHP Waker Buehler off the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Buehler will get a chance to make his first start in 20 months after recovering from Tommy John surgery. The right-hander was up to 75 pitches in rehab starts, and he should be able to work the necessary five innings to qualify for a potential win. Fantasy managers should absolutely give Buehler a chance if he’s still on the waiver wire. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago

  • Gets stiches removed
Alvarez had the stitches removed Monday from his surgically repaired left thumb, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Alvarez underwent surgery April 23 to address a torn UCL in the thumb on his glove hand. At the time his surgery was performed, the Mets estimated that Alvarez would need eight weeks to make a full recovery, so he appears unlikely to return from the injured list until around late June. A more precise target date for his return should come into focus once he resumes taking batting practice and performing defensive drills. Rotowire.com Today, 2:56 pm

  • Back on bench Monday
Dunn is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Dunn started at third base in each of the past four contests and went 5-for-13 with a triple, a walk, three runs and an RBI over that stretch. Despite the run of steady playing time of late, Dunn is still expected to move back into a utility role, as manager Pat Murphy noted Sunday that he wanted to give the rookie a more extended look after he had fallen out of favor in recent weeks. Dunn likely hit well enough to maintain his spot on the 26-man active roster for now, but Joey Ortiz still profiles as the Brewers' top option at the hot corner. Rotowire.com Today, 2:53 pm

  • Francisco Alvarez has stitches removed from thumb
Francisco Alvarez had the stitches from his surgically repaired left thumb removed Monday.

Advice: Alvarez is currently with the Mets to take part in the pitcher/catcher meetings according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. The backstop is two weeks into what is expected to be a two-month rehab after undergoing surgery to repair a torn UCL in his left thumb. If all continues to trend well, Alvarez could be back with the Mets around the All-Star break. Rotoworld Today, 2:50 pm

  • Manny Machado gets day off Monday vs. Cubs
Manny Machado is not in the lineup for Monday’s game against the Cubs.

Advice: Machado gets a rare day off after starting the last nine games for the Padres. He’ll get a breather with Donovan Solano getting the start at third while hitting sixth against Justin Steele and the Cubbies. Rotoworld Today, 2:46 pm
  • Esteury Ruiz (wrist) hitting leadoff vs. Rangers
Esteury Ruiz (wrist) is hitting leadoff and playing left field against the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: Ruiz was removed from Saturday’s game with a left wrist injury, but he’s feeling well enough to hit in the top spot for Monday’s game against the Rangers. Ruiz has been solid thus far in 2024 with an .847 OPS and four stolen bases over 18 games for the A’s. Rotoworld Today, 2:41 pm
