    Advice: Cave had started in 11 of the Rockies' last 12 games, but he'll head to the bench with Nolan Jones having returned from the injured list and with Brenton Doyle (knee) back in the lineup after a two-game absence. Though Cave has turned in a serviceable .250/.341/.389 slash line thus far in June, he could be relegated to a bench role now that Colorado has reclaimed some health in the outfield.   • Chase Silseth (elbow) to make third rehab start
    Rather than rejoin the rotation, Chase Silseth will make a third rehab start on Friday.

    Advice: Giving up three runs in five innings for Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday wasn’t good enough to get Silseth back to the majors just yet. The Angels have off Thursday and Sunday this week, so there’s little harm in keeping Silseth down for now. If he pitches well Friday, he’ll probably be added to the rotation next week.     Contreras (head) is available to pinch-hit or enter the game defensively off the bench Monday versus the Angels, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

    Advice: Contreras will be forced to miss his second contest of the season after taking a shot to the head while applying the tag at home plate to finish Sunday's 5-4 win over the Reds, but manager Pat Murphy said Monday that the catcher "is going to be fine."     Silseth (elbow) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday against Reno, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

    Advice: Silseth is set for a fifth rehab start and third with Salt Lake. The 24-year-old has been on the injured list since April 8 due right elbow inflammation, but he appears to be closing in on a return to the major-league roster. Through two starts at Triple-A, Silseth has struggled a little, surrendering nine runs on 11 hits and eight walks while striking out seven batters over 7.2 innings. Plesac had his contract selected by Los Angeles on Monday and he'll now get his first chance to start a major-league contest in 2024.   • José Soriano gets scratched due to abdominal pain
    José Soriano was scratched from his scheduled start Monday due to abdominal pain.

    Advice: Zach Plesac will go right into the rotation and start after being called up this afternoon. Hopefully, this is an illness and not something else abdomen-related for Soriano.
