  • Luke Weaver gets final five outs against Giants
    Luke Weaver threw 1 2/3 scoreless frames in a relief appearance Friday against the Giants.

    Advice: Weaver allowed just one hit with one strikeout. The right-hander has become a big part of the New York bullpen with a 2.78 ERA and sparkling 0.73 WHIP while composing a K/BB of 39/7. It’s a little surprising to see how good he’s been, but credit to the Yankees and Weaver into turning him into a legitimate high-leverage option. Rotoworld Today, 9:57 pm
  • Yields four runs in no-decision
    Fedde did not factor into the decision in Friday's 12-5 loss to Milwaukee, allowing four runs on nine hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out eight.

    Advice: Fedde's start offered a mix bag as he allowed a season-high 13 baserunners but also managed to provide eight punchouts. The 31-year-old right-hander has been a surprising source of strikeouts as he's generated 66 in 69.1 total innings. With this four-run outing, his ERA now stands at 3.12 to go along with a 1.18 WHIP.   • Better vs. Orioles
    Civale didn't factor into the decision Friday against Baltimore, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

    Advice: Civale was sharp Friday, blanking the Orioles for five innings before he was ultimately charged with a lone run in the sixth. The 28-year-old Civale has been pitching better of late, allowing just three runs over 10.1 innings in his last two starts after struggling to an 8.48 ERA in his previous six outings. Overall, he's 2-4 on the year with a 5.37 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 60:18 K:BB across 62 innings. Civale's currently lined up for a rematch with Baltimore at home in his next start.     Cease did not factor into the decision in Friday's 11-8 win over the Royals, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out five.

    Advice: Despite generating 16 whiffs out of his 98 total pitches, Cease managed to strike out only five, tying a season-low also reached on May 20 against Atlanta and April 27 against Philadelphia. The Padres ace was cruising through five innings, allowing just two baserunners; however, he unraveled in a 25-pitch sixth inning, allowing four baserunners and departing with just one out. Cease's ERA stands at 3.42 with 87:21 K:BB in 71 innings this season. He is tentatively slated to face the Angels on the road in his next start. Rotowire.com Today, 9:14 pm
  • Secures 17th save
    Suarez picked up the save Friday against Kansas City. He pitched one-third of an inning with no strikeouts, allowing no runs on one hit.

    Advice: Suarez entered to collect the last out in a bases-loaded jam with a five-run lead. After yielding a two-RBI single to Freddy Fermin, the San Diego closer induced a Nelson Velazquez flyout to secure the win. Suarez is now tied with Emmanuel Clase for second in the majors with 17 saves, trailing Ryan Helsley by one.   • Snags win Friday
    Perez (1-0) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout to earn the win Friday over the Rays.

    Advice: Perez kept the deficit from growing beyond 1-0, and the Orioles rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning to give him the win. He hasn't earned a hold in any of his last eight appearances, but he has a save and a win in that span. The southpaw isn't a usual part of the high-leverage mix, but he's filled in there on occasion in 2024.   • Spotted in walking boot
    Wacha was wearing a walking boot on his left foot following Friday's loss to the Padres, Pete Grathoff of The Kansas City Star reports.

    Advice: Wacha took a 90-mph line drive off his left foot during the first at-bat of Friday's contest. He was able to remain in the game and pitch 5.1 innings of two-run ball while logging two strikeouts, but it definitely seems like his shot to the foot bothered him. The 32-year-old right-hander said after the game that he will undergo imaging Saturday, at which point he and the Royals will have a better idea of how severe the damage is.     Sears (4-4) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks over seven innings Friday, striking out five and taking a loss against Atlanta.

    Advice: Sears allowed three runs through two innings but settled in to give Oakland a decent outing. It wasn't enough as the A's were limited to two runs in the loss. Sears has given up four runs in three of his last five starts, resulting in. 4.18 ERA during that span. He generated 14 whiffs Friday, his best total since recording a season-high 16 on April 27.   • James McArthur gives up four runs in blowing save
    James McArthur gave up four runs without retiring a batter in the eighth to take a blown save Friday against the Padres.

    Advice: Josh Schreiber, McArthur and Will Klein combined to give up nine runs in the eighth after the Royals entered the inning with a 3-2 lead. The good news for McArthur was that Schreiber, the Royals’ best alternative in the closer’s role, was pretty much equally ineffective tonight.
