    • Locks down 12th save
Doval earned the save Wednesday against the Astros, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Doval's held opponents scoreless in six of his last seven outings while improving to 12-for-14 in save opportunities this year. He lowered his ERA to 3.62 with a 1.54 WHIP and 35:19 K:BB across 27.1 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:27 pm

    • Kyle Finnegan closes out Tigers on Wednesday night
Kyle Finnegan served up a solo homer to Riley Greene in the ninth inning on Wednesday night, but still managed to secure his 19th save of the season.

Advice: The 32-year-old closer came on with a three-run lead to protect in the ninth inning. He gave one run back on a one-out solo blast to Greene, but battled back to strike out Wenceel Perez and then got Mark Canha on a ground ball to second base to end it. Finnegan has performed as one of the top closers in the league this season — posting a 1.91 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and a 30/10 K/BB ratio across 28 1/3 innings. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:40 pm
    • Mason Miller serves up walk-off homer to Padres
Mason Miller allowed one run in the ninth inning on Wednesday and was saddled with a loss against the Padres.

Advice: Miller was called upon in a tie ballgame and wound up surrendering a walk-off solo shot to Padres rookie Jackson Merrill. It was just his first loss of the year and second run he’s allowed in four relief appearances this month. The flame-throwing 25-year-old righty has been one of the best high-leverage relievers in baseball and this looks like just a momentary hiccup in an otherwise stellar breakthrough campaign. • Camilo Doval quiets Astros to collect 12th save
Camilo Doval tossed a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Astros to collect his 12th save of the season.

Advice: Doval was tasked with protecting a two-run lead and needed only nine pitches (eight strikes) to slam the door. The hard-throwing 26-year-old stopper has reeled off four consecutive scoreless appearances since June 7 and converted 12 of his 14 save opportunities this season. He’s struggled a bit from a run-prevention standpoint, but remains one of the better closing options in the fantasy landscape. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:21 pm

    • Grabs second win
Finnegan (2-3) earned the win in Tuesday's 10-inning victory over the Tigers, striking out three over 1.1 scoreless innings.

Advice: Finnegan struck out Colt Keith for the final out in the ninth, stranding the winning run on second base, before the Nats took a 5-4 lead in the top of the 10th. The right-hander would then set Detroit down in order in the bottom half, stranding the free runner to close out his second win this season. The 32-year-old Finnegan has been superb this year, allowing just two earned runs in his last 25.2 innings. Overall, he sports a 1.65 ERA with a 0.84 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB while converting 18 of 20 save chances across 27.1 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:09 am
    • Kyle Finnegan collects win in relief on Tuesday
Kyle Finnegan picked up a win in relief with 1 1/3 scoreless innings of work on Tuesday against the Tigers.

Advice: Finnegan struck out Colt Keith to preserve a tie ballgame in the ninth inning and send the contest to extra innings before coming back out to protect a one-run margin in the ensuing frame. The 32-year-old stopper has been outstanding this season, converting 18 saves to go along with a sublime 1.65 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 29/10 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings (27 appearances). • Hitting IL with neck strain
Brown will be placed on the injured list with a left neck strain, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Brown has been dealing with the strain over the last few weeks and will head back to Chicago to undergo more testing. The severity of the injury is unclear but we should learn more in the coming days. Jordan Wicks is the primary candidate to take Brown's spot in the rotation, while Colten Brewer (back) should join the bullpen after being reinstated from the 15-day IL. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 2:10 pm

    • Cubs place Ben Brown on 15-day IL with neck strain
Cubs placed RHP Ben Brown on the 15-day injured list with a neck strain.

Advice: Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network adds Brown has been battling the neck issue for the last few weeks and has been sent back to Chicago to undergo additional testing to determine the severity of the issue. There should be some clarity on his status at some point later this week. The 24-year-old righty has been a bright spot this season for the Cubs with a stellar 3.58 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 64/19 K/BB ratio across 55 1/3 innings (15 appearances, eight starts) so far.
