    • Colin Rea ineffective in start against Padres
Colin Rea gave up five runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Padres on Friday.

Advice: Rea gave up two homers and four more hits — six total, for those who don’t feel like doing math right now — and he didn’t get a single strikeout while issuing two walks. It was a poor outing for the 33-year-old, but one that didn’t affect his win-loss record because of the run support San Diego gave him Friday night. He’ll take a 3.62 ERA into a schedule start against the Rangers. Rotoworld Friday, 10:00 pm

    • Homers, stays hot in win
Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and three runs scored in Friday's 11-1 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Nimmo was active early, walking and scoring a run in the first inning and hitting a home run in the second. He then singled and scored again in the fourth frame. Since moving to second in the lineup June 13, Nimmo has five multi-hit games, three home runs, 10 RBI and 12 runs scored. On the season, he is now slashing .244/.359/.424 with 10 homers, 42 RBI and 45 runs scored through 309 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Friday, 3:14 pm
    • Taking seat Friday
Buxton is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Oakland.

Advice: After making three straight starts in center field, Buxton will get the night off Friday. Austin Martin will start in center and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:55 pm
    • Brandon Nimmo hits third homer in four games
Brandon Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, a walk and three runs scored versus the Cubs on Friday.

Advice: This has turned into quite a hot streak. Nimmo has three homers in four games, and he’s 14-for-29 in his last seven games, raising his season OPS from .708 to .783. Rotoworld Friday, 2:35 pm
    • Moved up to start Sunday
Severino will move up in the Mets' rotation to start Sunday against the Cubs, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: Severino had been slated to start Tuesday versus his former club, the Yankees, but will be bumped up a couple days to take the ball on regular rest. David Peterson had been on turn for Sunday but now figures to take the ball next week against the Yankees. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:32 am

    • Nails down 21st save
Finnegan struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his 21st save of the season in a 3-1 win over Arizona.

Advice: The right-hander breezed through the Diamondbacks' 5-6-7 hitters on 14 pitches (11 strikes) en route to his eighth straight successful conversion. Finnegan has put together the best first half of his career with a 1.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 33:10 K:BB through 31.1 innings, but if the Nats fall out of the wild-card picture, he figures to become one of the team's biggest trade chips given that he has just one more year of arbitration eligibility in 2025 before reaching free agency. • Continues impressive stretch
Brown (4-5) earned the win against the White Sox on Wednesday, allowing one run on seven hits and no walks while striking out six batters over six innings.

Advice: The only run scored against Brown came on an Andrew Benintendi solo homer in the fourth inning. Otherwise, Brown was solid again -- all six of Chicago's other hits were singles, and the right-handed hurler didn't issue any walks for the second straight outing. Brown had an awful 9.78 ERA through 23 innings across his first six starts this season, but he's since lowered that mark to 4.72. He's been especially impressive of late, racking up six straight quality starts and limiting his opponents to one run over 19 frames while posting a 22:4 K:BB across his past three outings. • Tosses six strong innings
Bradley allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three batters over six innings in a no-decision against Minnesota on Wednesday.

Advice: Bradley didn't have his best strikeout stuff -- his three punchouts tied a season-low mark and were a far cry from the 11 strikeouts he notched his previous time on the mound -- but he nonetheless managed his second straight quality start. The right-hander has rebounded well from a 3.1-inning, nine-run shellacking at the hands of the Orioles on June 1, yielding just three earned runs over 18 frames across his subsequent three starts. Bradley has recorded a 4.06 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 53:14 K:BB overall across 44.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:39 pm

    • Taj Bradley delivers quality start against Twins
Taj Bradley delivered a quality start in a no-decision against the Twins on Wednesday night, allowing just two runs on seven hits over six strong frames.

Advice: The 23-year-old right-hander punched out three batters in the ballgame while issuing a pair of free passes. The Twins threatened in the third inning and pushed a run across as Trevor Larnach grounded into a double play. They tacked on another run in the sixth inning as Royce Lewis belted a solo home run. Bradley got nine whiffs on 104 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of only 21 percent. He’ll carry a 4.06 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 53/14 K/BB ratio (44 1/3 innings) into Monday’s tilt against the Mariners.
