    • Michael Conforto blasts two-run homer in win
Michael Conforto went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: With a runner on base in the second inning, Conforto took Hayden Wesneski deep to right center field for a two-run shot to put the Giants on the board. It was Conforto’s ninth homer of the season and only his second in June. The 31-year-old outfielder is slashing .232/.286/.415 with 23 runs scored and 29 RBI across 224 plate appearances. • Camilo Doval locks down 14th save vs. Cubs
Camilo Doval struck out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: Doval was summoned to close out the game with a one-run lead in the ninth inning. He gave up a leadoff single, but stranded the runner with a strikeout, fly out, and a groundout to secure the win and lock down his 14th save. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:15 pm
    • Hayde Wesneski strikes out seven in no-decision
Hayden Wesneski surrendered three runs with seven strikeouts over four innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Wednesday.

Advice: All three of the runs Wesneski allowed came on a pair of homers in the second inning. With a runner on, Michael Conforto took him deep for a two-run shot to put the Giants on the board. David Villar followed with a solo shot to go back-to-back. Wesneski retired all six batters in the third and fourth innings before his day was done. He struck out seven. The 26-year-old right-hander owns a 3.60 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and a 44/16 K/BB ratio across 45 innings. He’ll likely revert to the bullpen for long relief duties. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:13 pm
    • Receiving start Wednesday
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Wesneski will start Wednesday's game in San Francisco, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Wesneski has previously made three starts for the Cubs this season, though none have come since May 8. While he'll be available on four days' rest after having made his last relief appearance Friday, Wesneski probably isn't built up enough to handle a traditional starter's workload. The Cubs are likely to move Wesneski back to the bullpen following Wednesday's game, as he was merely added to the rotation this week to give left-hander Shota Imanaga an extra day of rest between starts. • Jonathan India stays hot with two more hits in loss
Jonathan India went 2-for-4 with an RBI double on Wednesday in the Reds’ loss to the Pirates.

Advice: India was responsible for manufacturing Cincinnati’s lone extra-base hit and run of the contest on Wednesday afternoon as they were unable to solve Luis Ortiz over six frames to open the game before relievers Kyle Nicolas and Aroldis Chapman came out of the bullpen to slam the door. It’s flown a bit under the radar, but India is playing some of the best ball of his career at the moment, batting .365 (35-for-96) with three homers, 20 RBI and four steals over his last 30 games. • Rangers select Derek Hill’s contract from Triple-A
Rangers selected the contract of OF Derek Hill from Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Hill’s first stint with the Rangers ended prematurely earlier this month because the team wanted to add an infielder due to Corey Seager being banged up. He’ll get another look as a reserve outfielder now. The former first-round pick was hitting .350/.415/.631 with eight homers and seven steals in 42 games for Round Rock. He was 2-for-9 in 2 1/2 weeks with the Rangers before being dropped June 7. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:26 am
    • Joining roster, in lineup Wednesday
The Rangers selected Hill's contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

Advice: Hill was outrighted off the 40-man roster following a brief stint in the majors earlier this season, but he's back with the big club and will start in center field and bat eighth Wednesday in Milwaukee. The 28-year-old sports a career .591 OPS over parts of five major-league seasons. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:16 am
    • Brett Baty hits sixth homer since Triple-A demotion
Brett Baty hit his sixth homer in 15 games for Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.

Advice: Baty is hitting .333/.388/.700 with more homers (six to four), more doubles (four to three) and more RBI (18 to 16) in 15 games for Syracuse than he had in 50 games in the majors. The Mets could have recalled him yesterday in place of Starling Marte, but with Mark Vientos having earned regular playing time, they decided against it. A Pete Alonso or J.D. Martinez trade next month could create another opportunity for Baty. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:32 am

    • Swipes first bag of season
Tellez went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 9-5 win over the Reds.

Advice: The burly first baseman stole the fourth bag of his career, and his first since 2022, in the first inning as the Pirates grabbed an early 3-0 lead. Tellez has been enjoying his strong-side platoon role in June -- through 59 plate appearances this month, he's slashing .352/.407/.500 with five doubles, a homer, six runs and 11 RBI.
