    • Nico Hoerner clubs solo homer in loss to Pirates
Nico Hoerner clubbed his second home run of the season on Saturday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Cubs past the Pirates in a wild one at PNC Park.

Advice: Hoerner tagged Pirates’ phenom Paul Skenes for his 380-foot (99.5 mph EV) wall-scraping solo shot to get the Cubs on the board in the fourth inning. The 26-year-old infielder also drew the first of the Cubs’ six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning. That’s right, six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning. He finished the day 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI and two runs scored and is now hitting .272/.351/.397 with two homers, 12 RBI and four stolen bases. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago

    • Justin Steele allows six over four in no-decision
Justin Steele didn’t factor into the decision Saturday while allowing six runs over four innings against the Pirates.

Advice: Steele’s start was officially cut short because of a long rain delay, but it’s unlikely he was going to continue based on how well — or more accurately, not well — he was throwing. The southpaw allowed six hits and three walks with three strikeouts, and he allowed a Pittsburgh lineup that had been awful as of late to break through. These things happen. Steele will be back on the bump with a rematch against Paul Skenes and Pittsburgh next week. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago

    • Homers, plates four
Arozarena went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI in Saturday's victory over the Yankees.

Advice: Arozarena made a baserunning blunder following a walk in the first inning when he overslid the second base bag while trying to advance on a flyout. He immediately made up for it in his next plate appearance with an opposite-field, three-run homer. Arozarena later doubled in another run and scored again to cap off a big night. While Arozarena has still been striking out too much this month (30.8 percent), he now has four home runs in his first nine May contests. Rotowire.com Today, 6:20 pm

    • Three hits, homer in win
Diaz went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's win over the Yankees.

Advice: Diaz jumped on Nestor Cortes' first pitch of the bottom of the first inning, sending it over the left-field wall for his second longball of the season. He didn't stop there, doubling twice (with one of them plating another run) and finishing with three runs scored. Diaz already has five multi-hit games this month, elevating his average from .220 to .250. Rotowire.com Today, 6:03 pm

    • Randy Arozarena homers, plates four to lead Rays
Randy Arozarena homered and drove in four runs on Saturday, leading the Rays to a 7-2 victory over the Yankees in Tampa Bay.

Advice: The 29-year-old outfielder clobbered a 385-foot (102.5 mph EV) three-run shot off of Nestor Cortes in the third inning, giving the Rays a 4-2 lead that they would never relinquish. He also added a run-scoring double in the seventh inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Isaac Paredes. The 29-year-old outfielder finished the afternoon 2-for-3 plus a walk, raising his season-slash to a still horrifying .154/.253/.329 to go along with seven homers, 17 RBI and six stolen bases. • Yandy Díaz clubs leadoff home run on Saturday
Yandy Díaz clubbed a leadoff home run on Saturday, helping to propel the Rays to victory over the Yankees.

Advice: Díaz jumped on the very first pitch that Nestor Cortes threw on Saturday, crushing a 401-foot (100.4 mph EV) solo shot over the wall in left-center. He also smacked an RBI double in the seventh inning and scored on a double off the bat of Randy Arozarena. Díaz finished the day 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored. On the season, he’s now slashing .250/.310/.340 with a pair of long balls and 18 RBI. Rotoworld Today, 4:28 pm

    • Resting Saturday
Torres is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Ray, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Advice: Torres will not start for the first time since April 20 against Tampa Bay, though he did pinch hit in that contest. Torres is 5-for-30 with five walks and a solo home run in May, and he is coming off an 0-for-4 outing with one strikeout in Friday's win. Oswaldo Cabrera will shift to second base Saturday, while Jon Berti gets the start at third. Rotowire.com Today, 10:46 am
    • Garrett Whitlock to make rehab start Wednesday
Garrett Whitlock (oblique) will make a minor league rehab start on Wednesday for Triple-A Worcester.

Advice: Whitlock landed on the injured list back in mid-April with a left oblique issue and should be ready to return to Boston’s starting rotation mix prior to the end of May. Rotoworld Today, 10:25 am

    • Starting rehab assignment Wednesday
Whitlock (oblique) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Whitlock was placed on the 15-day IL on April 17 after sustaining a left oblique strain April 16 against the Guardians. Before landing on the IL, Whitlock was 1-0 over four starts with a 1.96 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB over 18.1 innings. How he fares during and after his rehab start Wednesday will determine whether the 27-year-old right-hander will require more than one outing. Rotowire.com Today, 10:18 am
