    • Matt Waldron works into seventh in no-decision
Matt Waldron went without a decision while allowing one run and two hits in 6 1/3 innings Monday against the Angels.

Advice: Waldron was back down to 33% usage of the knuckler tonight after utilizing the pitch a career-high 55% of the time last time out. He was plenty effective, but he might have been even more so with more knuckler usage, considering that all seven hard-hit balls he allowed came on other pitches. The no-decision kept him 3-5 with a 3.98 ERA. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm

    • Delivers quality start
Waldron gave up a run on two hits over 6.1 innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out four during the loss to the Angels.

Advice: Waldron turned in a second straight quality start Monday, allowing only one run in the fourth inning. He's given up two or fewer runs in five consecutive outings but has finished at least six innings just twice in that span. Still, his ERA has fallen from 5.82 to 3.98 during this run. Waldron has produced a 64:19 K:BB through 63.1 innings and hasn't allowed a long ball since May 11. He's currently in line to face Arizona at home this weekend. • Homers, swipes bag
Hoskins went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, a walk and a stolen base in Monday's 3-1 loss to Philadelphia.

Advice: Hoskins' seventh-inning blast off Zack Wheeler was the Brewers' only run of the night. The 31-year-old still managed to be productive, however, notching his second stolen base of the season in a strong all-around performance. Since being activated off the 15-day injured list May 31, Hoskins has started three of four games for the Brewers, batting 4-for-10 with one home run and one steal. • Rhys Hoskins blasts solo homer in return to Philly
Rhys Hoskins walloped a solo homer and also stole a base on Monday in the Brewers’ loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Hoskins walked and stole a base in the early stages of his first appearance back in Philadelphia since departing last offseason for Milwaukee before taking former teammate Zack Wheeler deep in the seventh inning for his 10th round-tripper of the season, breaking up a potential shutout in the process. The 31-year-old slugger missed a couple weeks last month with a hamstring strain, but hasn’t skipped a beat with four hits in 11 at-bats over three contests since returning. • CJ Abrams dealing with shoulder soreness on swings
CJ Abrams, out of the lineup for a third straight game Monday, said his shoulder is still bothering him when he swings but that it’s improving each day.

Advice: Abrams hurt the shoulder Friday, but it sounded like he would have played over the weekend if not for an illness he was also dealing with. That illness no longer seems to be a factor, but the shoulder remains a problem, keeping him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:41 pm

    • Remains out Monday
Abrams (shoulder) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.

Advice: Abrams reported improvement with his left shoulder Monday but still doesn't feel 100 percent when he's swinging a bat, per Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post. He'll miss out on a third consecutive start after he jammed the shoulder last week. With Abrams receiving more rest, Ildemaro Vargas will fill in at shortstop once again. • CJ Abrams (illness) remains out of lineup Monday
CJ Abrams (illness) remains out of the Nationals’ starting lineup for Monday night’s tilt against the Mets.

Advice: It’s the third consecutive contest that the dynamic 23-year-old shortstop has missed due to illness. He’s still considered day-to-day. Ildemaro Vargas will start in his place once again and will bat seventh against Tylor Megill and the Mets on Monday evening in Washington. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:43 pm

    • Picks up 17th save
Holmes threw a scoreless inning to earn a save against the Giants on Sunday.

Advice: Holmes quickly finished off the 7-5 win Sunday, needing just 12 pitches to retire San Francisco's 2-3-4 hitters in order. He began the year without allowing an earned run through 20 innings before coughing up four in a brutal outing against Seattle on May 20. Since then, he's turned in 5.2 scoreless frames to push his ERA back down to 1.37. Holmes owns a 27:8 K:BB and has converted 17 of 20 save chances this season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:05 pm

    • Coughs up three runs
Cortes allowed three runs on seven hits over 4.1 innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out seven during the win over San Francisco.

Advice: Cortes gave up a run in each of the second, third and fourth frames Sunday. The latter two were via solo homers by Heliot Ramos and Casey Schmitt. Cortes has been tagged with 10 home runs in 13 starts and has already given up multiple long balls in four outings. Sunday's start was his second shortest of the year, and he's now failed to complete six innings in four of his last five appearances. Cortes owns a 3.46 ERA and a 74:15 K:BB through 75.1 frames. His next start is lined up to be at home against the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:57 pm
