    • Suffers loss Wednesday
Lange (0-2) allowed an unearned run on one hit to take the loss in Wednesday's 5-4, 10-inning contest against the Guardians.

Advice: After recording the final out of the ninth inning, Lange had the unenviable task of pitching the bottom of the 10th in a tie game with a runner starting on second base. The righty retired the first batter but then allowed a walk-off hit to Brayan Rocchio. There shouldn't be too much read into the loss, and Lange has pitched well all season, as he's sitting with a stellar 0.64 ERA across 14 innings. Lange should continue to see high-leverage work for the Tigers moving forward, and he could slide back into the closer role at some point if he keeps up the strong play. • Alex Lange takes loss in 10th to Guardians
After the Tigers failed to score in the top of the inning, Alex Lange took a loss in the 10th against the Guardians on Wednesday.

Advice: The Tigers really mixed things up relief-wise in this one, turning to Jason Foley for two outs in the seventh and Joey Wentz for four outs through the eighth. Wentz allowed an unearned run, narrowing Detroit’s lead to one, and Andrew Chafin, given a rare chance to close, made that go away by giving up a homer to David Fry. Lange went on to get the final out of the ninth. In the 10th, he got an out on a sac bunt and then gave up the winning single. While Foley remains the favorite for saves in Detroit, it looks like this is going to be a frustrating situation going forward. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:37 pm
    • Stuck with loss in return
Montas (2-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Montas wound up spending the minimum 15 days on the IL after he was struck by a line drive in his last start, resulting in a bruised forearm. The 31-year-old right-hander was sharp in his return, though he'd ultimately wind up with the loss as the Reds' offense couldn't break through against Zac Gallen. Montas now sports a 3.55 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP and 21:11 K:BB across his first six starts (25.1 innings) with Cincinnati. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Giants on Sunday in his next outing. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:00 pm

    • Montas takes tough luck loss in return from IL
Frankie Montas allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits in six innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Advice: Montas was sharp in his return from the IL, striking out seven and walking just one. He allowed just one extra-base hit on the day and his two runs were driven in on a fielder’s choice and single to score a runner who was only on because of an Elly De La Cruz error. Montas was throwing two mph harder on every pitch in his arsenal; however, he was only able to get strikeouts on his splitter and registered a 25 percent CSW. It feels a little bit like Montas will still go as far as his splitter will take him, which makes him a risky proposition in fantasy leagues but one you can likely start against the Giants this weekend. • Reds activate Frankie Montas from 15-day IL
Reds activated RHP Frankie Montas (forearm) from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: After two weeks on the injured list, Montas will return to the active roster and is scheduled to start Tuesday against the Diamondbacks. The 31-year-old holds a 4.19 ERA, 1.45 WHIP with a 14/10 K/BB ratio across 19 1/3 innings this season. Rotoworld Tuesday, 11:30 am

    • Activated ahead of Tuesday's start
The Reds activated Montas (forearm) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Advice: Montas is set to rejoin the rotation Tuesday versus the Diamondbacks after missing the last two weeks with a bruised right forearm. The Reds have opted to bring him back without a rehab start, as Montas evidently looked good enough in a couple bullpen sessions to convince the team he was ready. Because of that, he might not be be able to handle a full workload. That, combined with his uneven performance before the injury, makes Montas an iffy fantasy start Tuesday. • Picks up second win Sunday
Munoz (2-2) got the win against the Astros on Sunday, firing 1.1 perfect innings during which he recorded a strikeout.

Advice: Munoz continued what is turning into his best stretch of pitching this season, locating eight of his 11 pitches for strikes on his way to his ninth scoreless effort in the last 10 appearances, including his fifth straight. The right-hander has whittled his ERA and WHIP to 2.03 and 1.13, respectively, and he'd also recorded saves in three consecutive appearances before Sunday's victory. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:40 am
    • Tuesday's scheduled starter
Montas (forearm) is listed as the scheduled starter for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks in Cincinnati.

Advice: Montas, who has been on the 15-day injured list since April 22, threw a couple of bullpen sessions last week. The Reds apparently saw enough from Montas in those throwing sessions to have him avoid a minor-league rehab stint and slot right back into the big-league rotation for the series opener versus Arizona. • Nails down 11th save
Holmes gave up a hit and struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings Saturday to record his 11th save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Tigers.

Advice: The right-hander is tied with the Cardinals' Ryan Helsley for the league lead in saves. Holmes kept his ERA a pristine 0.00 with Saturday's performance, although he did give up three unearned runs in his one blown save, and through 15 innings he's delivered a 0.92 WHIP and 18:1 K:BB.
