    • Runs bases with no issues
Manager Rob Thomson said Saturday that Harper (hamstring) had a "good day" running the bases and will run the bases again Sunday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Harper has been dealing with a low-grade hamstring strain since June 27 but has been progressing well enough to potentially return prior to the All-Star break. The 31-year-old was participating in on-field drills at 70-75 percent intensity earlier this week and is slated to run the bases again Sunday. Harper becomes eligible to come off the injured list Tuesday. Rotowire.com Today, 2:41 pm

    • Bryce Harper (hamstring) runs bases on Saturday
Bryce Harper (hamstring) ran the bases without any issues on Saturday.

Advice: In fact, the session went so well that the 31-year-old superstar is going to repeat the process on Sunday. Kyle Schwarber is expected to be activated from the injured list on Tuesday, and Harper isn’t expected to be far behind him. If Sunday’s session goes well, it’s not out of the question that he could be ready on Tuesday as well. The Phillies’ offense should be getting some strong reinforcements next week. • Joe Ryan strikes out eight in win against Astros
Joe Ryan allowed three runs with eight strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Astros on Saturday.

Advice: Ryan pitched two clean frames before a pair of doubles brought a run in to score for Houston in the third. Jon Singleton then hit a two-run homer in the fourth. Ryan worked into the sixth before leaving with the bases loaded and two outs. He struck out eight on the day. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 3.29 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and a 118/16 K/BB ratio across 109 1/3 innings into a start against the Giants in San Francisco on Friday. • Rafael Devers slugs 19th homer vs. Yankees
Rafael Devers went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI against the Yankees on Saturday.

Advice: Devers knocked a base hit in the third inning to put the Red Sox on the board. He then stole second and scored on a single by Masataka Yoshida. Devers later took Gerrit Cole deep with a solo homer in the fifth. The 27-year-old third baseman is up to 19 homers while slashing .286/.372/.568 with 54 runs scored and 53 RBI across 333 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 1:13 pm

    • Struggles continue Friday
Holmes blew his fifth save chance of the season in Friday's 5-3 extra-inning loss to the Red Sox, giving up two runs on two hits in the ninth inning without striking out a batter.

Advice: With two outs in the ninth and the Yankees holding a 3-1 lead, Holmes gave up a single to Dominic Smith before leaving a sinker over the middle of the plate that Masataka Yoshida blasted to right field for a game-tying homer. Holmes has been tagged for runs in five of seven appearances since his last save June 9, stumbling to a 10.80 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 6.2 innings over that stretch despite an 8:0 K:BB. His spot as the Yankees' closer doesn't seem to be in jeopardy yet, but the 31-year-old will likely need to right the ship before the trade deadline if he doesn't want New York shopping for his replacement. • Fans eight in no-decision
Cortes came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-3 extra-inning loss to the Red Sox, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: The southpaw was at his baffling best, tossing 68 of 97 pitches for strikes and leaving the mound in line for his fifth win of the season. A blown save by Clay Holmes forced Cortes to settle for his ninth quality start, and he'll take a 3.41 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 106:20 K:BB through 111 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Tampa Bay. • Slugs grand slam
Hoskins went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Friday's 8-5 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Hoskins opened July in an 0-for-13 skid before the grand slam in his second at-bat Friday. The blast gave the Brewers a 5-2 lead, but they mustered just one hit after that. Hoskins is slashing .218/.311/.402 with 12 homers, 42 RBI, 27 runs scored and two stolen bases over 270 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:40 pm

    • Doyle hits go-ahead two-run double against Royals
Brenton Doyle hit a go-ahead two-run double to give the Rockies a 4-2 win over the Royals on Friday.

Advice: Doyle turned a 2-2 game into a 4-2 lead with the Rockies with a ground-rule double that scored Aaron Schunk and Ryan McMahon and ultimately gave Colorado the victory. After being one of the worst offensive players in baseball in 2024, Doyle has shocked with a very useable slash of .274/.335/.436, and his .731 OPS is quite the improvement on his .593 mark in 2023. • Nestor Cortes strikes out eight against Red Sox
Nestor Cortes held the Red Sox to one run in six innings and struck out eight in the Yankees’ 3-1 victory Friday.

Advice: Cortes gave up 410-, 397- and 386-foot flyballs, but Yankee Stadium managed to hold two of them, with only Romy Gonzalez leaving the yard. Cortes remained stuck at 4-7 while improving his now 3.41 ERA and 105/20 K/BB ratio through 111 innings. He’ll get the Rays next time out. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:58 pm
