Making rehab start WednesdayPadres manager Mike Shildt said that Darvish (groin) will make a rehab start Wednesday with High-A Fort Wayne, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
Advice: The upcoming rehab start will take a potential return from the 15-day injured list off the table this week, but Darvish shouldn't need more than one tune-up outing in the minors before slotting back into the San Diego rotation. Darvish previously bypassed a rehab assignment when he was on the IL earlier this season due to neck tightness, but the Padres will act more cautiously with the right-hander this time around while he works his way back from a left groin strain that has thus far kept him out for three weeks. Yu Darvish (groin) set for rehab start WednesdayThe Padres will have Yu Darvish make a rehab start with high-A Fort Wayne on Wednesday.

Undergoes internal brace procedureWells (elbow) underwent a UCL revision and internal brace augmentation surgery Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Advice: Wells avoided the second Tommy John surgery of his career, after he previously had the procedure in May 2019. However, while the internal brace procedure typically entails a shorter recovery timeline than Tommy John surgery, Wells will still miss the remainder of the 2024 campaign, and likely a few months of the 2025 season. Tyler Wells undergoes season-ending elbow surgeryTyler Wells had successful right elbow revision ulnar collateral ligament surgery with UCL repair and internal brace augmentation on Monday.
Advice: The internal brace gives him a better chance of returning next summer, but a 2026 return still might be the most likely scenario here. Michael Wacha will begin a rehab assignmentRoyals RHP Michael Wacha (foot) will begin a rehab assignment on Monday in the Arizona Complex League.
Advice: Wacha was hit in the foot by a comebacker on May 31st and was placed on the IL with a fracture a couple of days later. He threw a three-inning simulated game last Thursday and reported no issues, so he’ll step up to a short rehab start and continue to work his way back from there. Back from injured listThe Phillies activated Turner (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Monday. He'll start at shortstop and bat second in his return to the lineup for Monday's series opener versus the Padres.
Advice: Turner rejoins the first-place Phillies following a six-week absence with a strained left hamstring. He didn't go out on a rehab assignment prior to being activated, so it's possible Turner will some extra off days mixed in as he returns to action. Edmundo Sosa performed well as Turner's main replacement at shortstop and will most likely return to a bench role, though the Phillies have discussed the possibility of getting him some reps in the outfield. Trea Turner officially back from the ILPhillies activated SS Trea Turner from the 10-day injured list.
Advice: The move was reported on Sunday and is now official. Turner didn’t make any rehab appearances but should be slotted back into lineups to make use of his full week of production. He may not steal as many bases right away in the aftermath of the hamstring injury, but hopefully that speed production will tick back up in the weeks ahead. Making rehab start in ACLWacha (foot) will make a rehab start Monday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.
Advice: According to Anne Rogers of MLB.com, Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Sunday that Wacha may only need the one outing in the minors before returning from the 15-day injured list and making his next start with Kansas City this coming weekend in Arlington versus the Rangers. Wacha threw a three-inning simulated game Thursday, so he could be stretched out for close to a typical starter's workload if he's able to tack on another inning during Monday's outing. Advice: Manager Joe Espada relayed that Tucker is feeling better, including doing some work in the weight room. However, Espada also added that if Tucker isn't able to begin running within the next few days he will require a rehab assignment before being activated.
