    • Yu Darvish spins five scoreless frames vs. Cubs
Yu Darvish tossed five shutout innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

Advice: Darvish has reeled off 10 consecutive scoreless frames in a pair of starts since returning from a two-week absence due to neck tightness. The 37-year-old veteran righty finished with five strikeouts, and only issued one walk, scattering three hits over five frames in his return to Wrigley Field. He generated 15 swinging strikes and finished with a respectable 28 percent CSW, despite throwing 62 of 83 pitches for strikes. He’ll bring a strong 2.94 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 30/11 K/BB ratio across 33 2/3 innings (seven starts) into a challenging matchup on Sunday against the division-rival Dodgers. • Wins with scoreless outing
Darvish (2-1) yielded three hits and a walk over five shutout frames Monday, striking out five and earning a win over the Cubs.

Advice: Darvish scattered baserunners throughout his outing but ultimately kept the Cubs quiet for five innings. He was 0-1 with a 4.18 ERA before a brief stint on the injured list. Since returning, he's fired 10 shutout frames and dropped that number to 2.94 across seven starts. Darvish matched his season best with 15 swinging strikes, eight of which came via the slider. Darvish is in line for a tough home matchup with the Dodgers this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:19 pm
    • MLB updates ruling Friday
MLB changed the official scoring on a play during Friday's game, which left Houck charged with three earned runs over six-plus innings, not four, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: A fielder's choice in the seventh inning was updated to a throwing error by catcher Reese McGuire. The ruling drops Houck's season ERA to 1.99 and gives him a sixth quality start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:21 am

    • Roughed up in first loss
Elder (1-1) was hit with the loss against the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out four over 3.1 innings.

Advice: Elder went 1-2-3 through the first inning before surrendering a leadoff walk to Will Smith in the second, followed by a two-run shot off the bat of Max Muncy. The right-hander would then give up a home run in both the third and fourth innings as well, leading to a season-high seven runs being charged to him. Elder hadn't allowed a home run or more than two runs in either of his first two starts to open the campaign before getting beat up by the Dodgers on Saturday. However, he has now allowed seven or more hits in two of his first three outings this season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:56 am

    • Bryce Elder coughs up three homers to Dodgers
Bryce Elder was blasted for seven runs over 3 1/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: We saw this one coming. Elder was no match for Los Angeles’ star-studded lineup as he gave up seven hits, including three round-trippers, in an abbreviated outing. He was taken deep by Max Muncy, Shohei Ohtani and Andy Pages before departing in the fourth inning. He finished with four strikeouts and also issued four walks. It’s unclear whether he’ll make another start for Atlanta, but he’s tentatively lined up to take the ball next Saturday against the Mets. Rotoworld Saturday, 9:50 pm

    • Hit with no-decision
Stroman came away with a no-decision Friday against the Tigers after giving up one earned run on three hits and five walks while striking out three batters across 5.1 innings.

Advice: Despite the Tigers' ability to reach base regularly against Stroman, a bases-loaded walk from Colt Keith in the sixth inning was the only way Detroit was able to break through on the scoreboard against him. A quiet night from New York's offense also put Stroman at risk of taking his second loss of the season, but a two-run ninth inning allowed the Yankees to steal the victory from Detroit while handing the right-hander a no-decision. Stroman, who has now allowed 10 walks over his past two outings, is tentatively scheduled to start again Thursday against Houston. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:35 am

    • Effective in no-decision
Morton did not factor into the decision Friday against the Dodgers, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Morton held the vaunted Dodgers lineup in check, delivering his third straight quality start. Over those three starts, the 40-year-old has thrown 19 innings with a 1.89 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB. Morton is slated to face the Mets on the road in his next start. • Charlie Morton holds LAD to two runs in no-decision
Charlie Morton gave up two runs in six innings against the Dodgers on Friday while not factoring into the decision.

Advice: Morton continues his good run, but it comes without a win as Atlanta didn’t provide him the necessary run support. The right-hander lowered his season ERA to 3.50 while scattering five hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Morton didn’t look good in the middle of April, but the 40-year-old has been a very strong option outside of those two outings where he gave up 12 of the 14 runs he’s given up in 2024. He gets the Mets on Friday. Rotoworld Friday, 10:15 pm

    • Quality start in loss
Weathers (2-3) took the loss Friday against the Athletics, allowing three runs on five hits and no walks over six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Weathers collected his second quality start of the season. Most importantly, the Miami lefty exhibited better control, allowing no walks for the first time since a June 15, 2023 start against Cleveland as a member of the Padres. Weathers is scheduled to make his next start against the Dodgers on the road. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:44 pm
