    • Scratched due to sore elbow
Luzardo has been scratched from Friday's scheduled outing against the Nationals due to left elbow soreness.

Advice: Luzardo felt soreness in his pitching elbow Thursday and is set to undergo further testing. It's yet another blow to a Marlins pitching staff that's sustained plenty of them. Anthony Maldonado will start in Luzardo's place Friday in what will be a bullpen game for Miami. Luzardo has had an uneven 2024 season, collecting a 6.58 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 27:13 K:BB over 26 innings covering his first five starts. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

    • Jesús Luzardo (elbow) scratched from Friday start
Jesús Luzardo (elbow) was scratched from Friday’s start against the Nationals.

Advice: Not good. The team said Luzardo will undergo testing for discomfort to his elbow and this more than likely means the 26-year-old will be placed on the injured list in the near future. This adds to the multitude of injuries for Miami’s pitching rotation. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

    • Heating up
Devers went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Thursday's 6-4 loss to Cleveland.

Advice: Devers produced a second consecutive three-hit effort after missing five games with a knee injury. He's 6-for-9 with a double, home run, two RBI and two runs scored in his two games back. The downtime appears to have given the balky shoulder he was dealing with during Boston's homestand last week time to heal. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:29 pm
    • Goes deep in loss
Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 loss Seattle.

Advice: Lowe reached down for a slider low in the zone to blast his first home run of the season. The first baseman has played in all five games since being activated off the injured list last Saturday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:42 pm
    • Likely back at third base Saturday
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Devers (knee) isn't comfortable enough yet to play third base but will likely return to the position Saturday versus the Cubs, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: The good news is Devers is well enough to hit, as he'll be the club's designated hitter again Thursday after homering from the spot in his return to the lineup Wednesday. The Cubs are starting left-hander Shota Imanaga on Friday, so it's possible the lefty-hitting Devers will rest that day before returning to third base Saturday. With Devers (twice) and Tyler O'Neill (once) occupying the DH spot the last three days, Masataka Yoshida has been on the bench. However, it sounds like Yoshida should be back in there soon enough. • Gets rest after big game
Wong is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: Wong will get a breather for the day game after he powered the Red Sox to an 8-0 win Wednesday by going 4-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI while also reaching base on a hit by pitch. Reese McGuire will get the nod behind the plate Thursday, but the hot-hitting Wong appears to have clearly supplanted him as the Red Sox's preferred option at catcher. • Collects ninth steal
Caballero went 1-for-3 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 7-5 win over the Tigers.

Advice: The shortstop continues to make an impact on the basepaths. Caballero has gone 4-for-4 on steal attempts over the last six games, and on the season he sports a .272/.302/.432 slash line with two homers, nine stolen bases, 11 runs and 11 RBI in 23 contests. • Fans seven in loss
Anderson (2-3) took the loss against the Orioles on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over five frames. He struck out seven.

Advice: Anderson struggled with his command in the loss, hitting Gunnar Henderson with a pitch to open the game before going on to issue a season-high four walks over his five innings of work. However, he also managed to post a season-high seven strikeouts while inducing 14 swings and misses on the afternoon. Despite taking his third loss of the season, Anderson has actually been a solid arm for the Angels early in the campaign and is yet to allow more than three runs in a start. He's also gone at least seven innings in three of his five outings and still carries a shiny 1.78 ERA heading into his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:33 am

    • Four hits, two homers in win
Wong went 4-for-4 with a pair of homers and three total RBI in Wednesday's 8-0 victory over the Guardians.

Advice: It's the second two-homer game of Wong's career while his four hits matched a personal best. The 27-year-old catcher has been on fire lately, going 13-for-31 with four home runs in his last eight games while taking over the primary catching job in Boston. Wong's now slashing a solid .320/.327/.520 with three home runs (six shy of a career high), eight RBI and five runs scored across 51 plate appearances to open the campaign.
