      The Marlins traded Arraez to the Padres on Friday in exchange for Dillon Head, Woo-suk Go, Nathan Martorella and Jakob Marsee, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.

      Advice: It's not immediately clear how Arraez will fit into the Padres' lineup, as San Diego already has a strong infield unit that includes Jake Cronenworth, Xander Bogaerts, Ha-Seong Kim and Manny Machado, but it's possible Arraez fills in as the Friars' primary designated hitter. The 27-year-old is slashing .299/.347/.372 across 148 plate appearances so far this season, and his departure from Miami leaves Vidal Brujan as the favorite to take over as the Marlins' main second baseman.       Ryan McMahon went 2-for-5 and hit his fifth homer Friday against the Pirates.

      Advice: Both hits were against a lefty in Martín Pérez. If McMahon were on a better team, he’d probably be a platoon player at this point, as he was bad against lefties in 2022 and even worse last season.     • Padres closing in on deal to acquire Luis Arraez
      Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Padres are finalizing a deal to acquire second baseman Luis Arraez from the Marlins.

      Advice: Passan notes that the Marlins will receive a package of three prospects and a relief pitcher in return for the two-time defending batting champion. The Padres already have a strong combo up the middle with Ha-Seong Kim and Xander Bogaerts, so its likely that the plan is to play Arraez at either first base or third base.     • Ryan McMahon reaches three times in loss Wednesday
      Ryan McMahon doubled and drew a pair of walks on Wednesday night as the Rockies fell to the Marlins in Miami.

      Advice: McMahon worked a two-out walk off of Roddery Munoz in the opening inning and went to third on a single by Elias Diaz, but the Rockies couldn’t cash him in. He then smacked a one-out double in the sixth inning that pushed Brenton Doyle to third base and helped contribute to the Rockies’ lone run on the day.       Marcus Semien went 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, and two runs scored in Tuesday’s win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Semien played the role of catalyst for the Rangers on Tuesday night, as he would eventually come around to score on both of his hits on the evening in a game the Rangers won handily by a score of 7-1.       Ryan McMahon went 1-for-2 and clubbed a two-run homer on Saturday night as the Rockies fell to the Astros in Mexico City.

      Advice: McMahon got the Rockies on the board first in this one, clobbering a mammoth 459-foot (108.9 mph EV) two-run shot off of Ronel Blanco in the first inning. He also drew a walk and struck out in the contest, participating in only the three true outcomes.
