    • Yankees outright Victor González to Triple-A
Yankees sent LHP Victor González outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Advice: González had a 3.86 ERA before being sent down by the Yankees, though it came with an 11/13 K/BB in 23 1/3 innings. The Yankees are surely glad he cleared waivers, and he might well reemerge as a bullpen option in the second half. Rotoworld Today, 11:14 am
    • Spencer Turnbull exits start with sore shoulder
Spencer Turnbull left Wednesday’s start against the Tigers after three innings with right shoulder soreness.

Advice: Turnbull hadn’t pitched more than three innings since Apr. 30, so he wasn’t expected to go deep into this one. Nevertheless, the Phillies were probably aiming for one more inning from him today. Turnbull allowed one run before being replaced by fellow former Tiger Gregory Soto. Rotoworld Today, 11:11 am

    • Outrighted to Triple-A
The Yankees outrighted Gonzalez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Advice: Gonzalez didn't garner any interest via trade or waivers, despite owning a 3.22 ERA and 86:31 K:BB in 89.1 career innings in the majors coming into 2024. He'll remain in the Yankees organization and provide left-handed relief depth at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Rotowire.com Today, 11:08 am
    • Shut down with groin strain
The Rockies placed Bird on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right groin strain.

Advice: Bird sustained the injury in his most recent relief appearance in Saturday's 8-7 win over the Nationals and won't be eligible to return from the IL until July 8. The right-hander had recently returned from a month-long stay on the shelf due to elbow inflammation and made just three appearances out of the Colorado bullpen before being shut down again with a new injury. • Could be back sooner than expected
Brewers general manager Matt Arnold said Wednesday that Williams (back) could return from the 60-day injured list sooner than his initial mid-to-late-July recovery timeline, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Williams was scheduled for a bullpen session Wednesday, which would have marked his first time throwing off a mound since being shut down during spring training with multiple stress fractures in his back. He will need to throw off the bump multiple times and eventually go out on a rehab assignment before being activated. That said, while Williams still has multiple checkpoints to hit in his rehab program, he looks to be in a good spot with his recovery. Rotowire.com Today, 10:33 am

    • Drew Thorpe’s start pushed from Thursday to Friday
The White Sox will go with a bullpen day Thursday and push Drew Thorpe’s start back to Friday.

Advice: It’s good news for those rostering Thorpe, as he’ll now face the Rockies instead of the Braves. The downside is that it means he probably will miss out on a road start in Miami next week. Jonathan Cannon and Garrett Crochet are set to follow Thorpe this weekend, so it appears Mike Clevinger will make another rehab start. Rotoworld Today, 10:30 am

    • Undergoes Tommy John surgery
Brewers general manager Matt Arnold confirmed Wednesday that Gasser (elbow) underwent a traditional Tommy John surgery Monday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: As expected, Gasser wasn't a candidate for an internal brace procedure, which would have shortened his timetable. A return for Gasser late in the 2025 season would still appear possible, but he likely won't be an integral part of the team's plans until 2026. Rotowire.com Today, 10:26 am

    • Jake Bird (groin) goes back on IL for Rockies
Rockies placed RHP Jake Bird on the 15-day IL, retroactive to June 23, with a right groin strain.

Advice: No countermove was immediately announced. Bird had allowed two runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief work since returning from elbow inflammation on June 17. Rotoworld Today, 10:24 am

    • Chris Roycroft joins Cardinals as 27th man
Chris Roycroft will serve as the Cardinals’ 27th man in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Braves.

Advice: Roycroft has a 3.07 ERA in 12 relief appearances for the Cardinals this season. There’s a good chance he’ll appear in Game 2 tonight, as the Cardinals aren’t expecting spot starter Matthew Liberatore to go deep. Rotoworld Today, 10:21 am
