    • Jackson Merrill power binge continues in loss
Jackson Merrill went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.

Advice: Merrill launched a 411-foot blast against Jose Quintana for his seventh home run of the season. The rookie now has four home runs in his last three games. All of them have also been solo shots. Merrill was billed as primarily a batting average asset who wouldn’t provide much power, so it’s nice to see him starting to show some pop. Even pushing 15-20 home runs in a season would be a big boost to his fantasy value. Rotoworld Today, 6:31 pm

    • Remains out Saturday
Smith (undisclosed) is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Mariners, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Smith will miss a second straight game as he nurses "general tightness." Ezequiel Duran will draw the start at third base while Robbie Grossman enters the lineup at designated hitter and bats seventh against Seattle. Rotowire.com Today, 1:35 pm

    • Swipes two bags in win
Volpe went 1-for-5 with a run and two stolen bases Friday in an 8-1 victory versus the Red Sox.

Advice: Volpe made the most of his fifth-inning single, as he proceeded to steal both second and third base before coming home on an Alex Verdugo double. The second-year shortstop is up to 15 thefts (on 18 attempts) this season, tied for 13th in the league. Volpe's power is down in comparison to his rookie campaign, but he's reduced his strikeout rate from 27.8 percent to 21.3 percent, which has helped produce a much-improved .271/.329/.414 slash line. • Stays hot Friday
Merrill went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Mets.

Advice: The 21-year-old went yard for the third time in the last two games, accounting for all of the Padres' offense on the night with a fifth-inning shot off Sean Manaea. Merrill seems to have flipped a switch in June -- over the last nine games, he's batting .353 (12-for-34) with four doubles, three homers, two steals, five RBI, six runs and an impressive 8.3 percent strikeout rate. • Experiencing general tightness
Smith was not in the starting lineup Friday due to what manager Bruce Bochy referred to as "general tightness," Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: It's the same condition that led to Smith being held out of Tuesday's starting lineup. He eventually entered Friday's game as a pinch hitter, popping out in the ninth inning. With Corey Seager not playing the field yet as he battles a hamstring issue, Ezequiel Duran started at shortstop. Rotowire.com Today, 6:04 am

    • Jackson Merrill with another home run
Jackson Merrill went 1-for-3 with a solo homer Friday against the Mets.

Advice: Merrill’s home run was impressive: off lefty Sean Manaea to straight away center through the rain at Citi Field. It was another notable moment in what’s been a great rookie season for the 20-year-old. He has a .280/.314/.401 slash line with six home runs and nine stolen bases while learning center field on the fly. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:12 pm

    • Anthony Volpe steals two bags in win on Friday
Anthony Volpe went 1-for-5 with a pair of stolen bases and a run scored on Friday night as the Yankees triumphed over the Red Sox.

Advice: Volpe led off the fifth inning with a single, then swiped second and third base before scoring on Alex Verdugo’s RBI double. That would be his lone hit in five at-bats on the evening. For the season, the dynamic 23-year-old shortstop is now hitting .272/.330/.415 with six homers, 26 RBI and 15 stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:48 pm

    • Sitting Friday
Smith is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Smith will begin Friday's series opener in the dugout after starting in the last two games, going 4-for-7. He's been one of the Rangers' hottest hitters in June, slashing .368/.429/.526 with seven runs, one home run and two RBI. Ezequiel Duran and Davis Wendzel will start at shortstop and third base, respectively, against Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:06 pm

    • Stays at shortstop
Smith started at shortstop and went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Smith made another start at shortstop, as the Rangers are being careful with Corey Seager (hamstring). Seager had returned to action Wednesday, serving as the DH, and was originally in Thursday's starting lineup at DH before being scratched. Smith continued to be a surprising contributor for the Rangers; he's gone 19-for-53 (.358) with six extra-base hits, two steals, four RBI and 10 runs scored over the last 15 games.
