    • Fires seven frames in loss
Cortes (1-2) took the loss against Oakland on Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits and no walks while striking out four batters over seven innings.

Advice: Cortes tossed a quality start of seven-plus frames for the third time in his past four outings, though he has just one win to his ledger over that span. All of the runs the left-hander gave up Thursday came in the third inning via a pair of long balls. Despite notching just one victory across six appearances, Cortes has done pretty well so far this season, posting a 3.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 32:5 K:BB over 36 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 12:03 am
    • Nestor Cortes completes seven frames against A’s
Nestor Cortes was charged with three runs over seven innings on Thursday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Cortes gave up third-inning homers to Nick Allen and Tyler Nevin, which accounted for all of the damage against him in this one, but didn’t get any run support from New York’s offense. The 29-year-old lefty will bring a serviceable 3.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 32/5 K/BB ratio across 36 innings (six starts) into a road tilt on Tuesday against the Orioles. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:38 pm
    • Freddie Freeman scalds RBI double in Dodgers’ win
Freddie Freeman went 2-for-3 with an RBI double on Thursday, lifting the Dodgers to a 2-1 victory over the Nationals.

Advice: Freeman has flown a bit under the radar with Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani justifiably stealing the early-season spotlight. However, his latest multi-hit performance puts his batting average back above the .300 mark for the first time this season. The 34-year-old fantasy stalwart has shown zero signs of slowing down at this stage of his career and remains an elite four-category contributor also capable of chipping in the occasional stolen base. • Goes four-plus in rehab start
Buehler (elbow) was charged with five runs (three earned) over four-plus innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

Advice: He permitted seven hits, walked two and struck out five. The line for Buehler wasn't pretty, but keep in mind that the game was pitched at high altitude at Albuquerque, so the results were mostly secondary. Buehler got his pitch count up to 86 and averaged 94.1 mph with his four-seamer, which is down 1.1 mph from what he averaged during the 2022 season prior to Tommy John surgery. It's possible this was Buehler's final rehab start, but that determination hasn't been made yet. He could potentially make his season debut as soon as Tuesday in Arizona. • Absent from lineup again
Yoshida is out of the lineup for Thursday's game in Cleveland.

Advice: Red Sox manager Alex Cora insisted prior to Wednesday's game against the Guardians that Yoshida was still the team's everyday designated hitter. However, he's now out of the lineup for a third straight contest and for the sixth time in eight games, with all but one of those absences coming versus righties. Rafael Devers will start at DH again Thursday as he comes back from a knee issue, and Yoshida presumably will be back in the lineup once Devers is ready to return to third base. Clearly, the club has little faith in Yoshida's glove, as he's played just one inning in left field this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:11 am
    • Notches seventh save
Kimbrel picked up the save against the Angels on Wednesday, allowing one unearned run on one hit and one walk over one inning while striking out one.

Advice: Kimbrel surrendered a leadoff single to Ehire Adrianza to open the bottom of the ninth, who then advanced to third on a throwing error by Jorge Mateo. This would lead to a run coming home for Los Angeles in the frame on a groundout to make it a 6-5 game, though Kimbrel was able to retire two of the next three batters to nail down his seventh save of the season. The veteran reliever has now converted each of his last seven save attempts after blowing the save to open the campaign, but he's also allowed a hit and a walk in each of his last two appearances. • Logs three-hit night in win
Langford went 3-for-3 with a walk, double and run scored in Wednesday's 5-1 win over Seattle.

Advice: The three-hit performance was the first of the season for Langford. The double was just his fourth extra-base hit over 88 at-bats (.318 slugging, .057 ISO), but the rookie outfielder is getting on base with consistency (.340 OBP, 10.2% walk rate). He's reached base safely in 19 of 23 games and is hitting .261 with a .658 OPS to open his MLB career. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:32 am
    • Contributes solo shot
Altuve went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Wednesday in a loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Altuve launched a solo blast off closer Hector Neris in the ninth inning to bring the Astros to within a run, but the team ultimately fell short. The long ball was Altuve's sixth of the season, though he has only eight RBI. The star second baseman is otherwise having a fantastic campaign, slashing .350/.412/.602 with 17 runs and three stolen bases. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:15 pm

    • Grabs fifth save
Diaz earned the save in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Phillies, allowing one hit in a scoreless inning.

Advice: After allowing three runs and blowing a save in his first outing this year, Diaz has converted his subsequent five save opportunities, allowing just one run while striking out 10 over his last nine appearances. His ERA is down to 3.48 with a 1.16 WHIP across 10.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:13 pm
