• José Buttó strikes out six in quality start vs. Cubs
José Buttó allowed one run with six strikeouts across six innings in a loss against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: Buttó was excellent on Wednesday, holding Chicago to just one run in a quality start. A double and a wild pitch put a runner on third in the fifth inning before Pete Crow-Armstrong drove in the run on a sacrifice fly. It was the third time in five starts Buttó has gone six innings with no more than one run allowed. The The 26-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 2.57 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a 31/14 K/BB ratio across 28 innings. He’ll take on Cardinals in St. Louis on Monday. Rotoworld 4 minutes ago

  • Dane Myers drives in two as Marlins top Rockies
Dane Myers delivered a pinch-hit, two-run single in the eighth inning on Wednesday, helping to lead the Marlins to a 4-1 victory over the visiting Rockies.

Advice: The 28-year-old outfielder came on to bat for Christian Bethancourt with the bases loaded and two outs in the eighth inning. He responded by lining a 1-1 offering from Nick Mears into right field for a two-run single to provide the Marlins with a pair of valuable insurance runs. Emmanuel Rivera went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored as the Marlins rolled past the Rockies on Wednesday night in Miami.

Advice: Rivera singled off of Dakota Hudson with two outs in the second inning, but was left stranded at first. He was then hit by a pitch to start the fifth inning and scored the game’s first run on an RBI knock by Luis Arraez. The 27-year-old then singled in the sixth inning before drawing a walk and scoring on a two-run single by Dane Myers in the ninth. • Anthony Maldonado secures first career save
Anthony Maldonado secured the first save of his big league career on Wednesday, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a three-run lead against the Rockies.

Advice: The 26-year-old hurler wasn’t fazed at all by the bright lights of the ninth inning on Wednesday, retiring Charlie Blackmon, Brendan Rodgers and Elehuris Montero in succession to end the night. He’s not going to suddenly usurp the closer’s role away from Tanner Scott, but he could be working his way into the high-leverage mix for manager Skip Schumaker. Rotoworld 33 minutes ago
  • Roddery Muñoz fans seven in victory over Rockies
Roddery Muñoz picked up his first career victory in impressive fashion on Wednesday night, piling up seven strikeouts over six innings of one-run baseball against the Rockies.

Advice: The 24-year-old rookie right-hander allowed just three hits and a pair of walks on the night. The lone tally against him came on an RBI ground out off the bat of Elias Diaz in the sixth inning. Aside from that, he was in complete command. Muñoz generated 12 swings and misses on 82 pitches on the night — half of those on his cutter — while posting a strong CSW of 30 percent. The Marlins have to give him another opportunity to start next week, though he’ll draw a difficult matchup having to take on the Dodgers in Los Angeles. For fantasy managers who are into streaming pitchers weekly, a two-step that goes at the Dodgers and vs. the Phillies is about as volatile as it gets. Rotoworld 36 minutes ago

  • Ryan McMahon reaches three times in loss Wednesday
Ryan McMahon doubled and drew a pair of walks on Wednesday night as the Rockies fell to the Marlins in Miami.

Advice: McMahon worked a two-out walk off of Roddery Munoz in the opening inning and went to third on a single by Elias Diaz, but the Rockies couldn’t cash him in. He then smacked a one-out double in the sixth inning that pushed Brenton Doyle to third base and helped contribute to the Rockies’ lone run on the day. He’s off to a blistering start at the dish this season, slashing .324/.408/.505 with four homers and 18 RBI through his first 30 games. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago

  • Dakota Hudson pitches well in loss to Marlins
Dakota Hudson pitched well in a losing effort against the Marlins on Wednesday night, allowing just two runs on five hits across 5 2/3 frames.

Advice: The 29-year-old right-hander walked two batters and struck out a pair on the evening. All of the scoring done against him came in the fifth inning, as Luis Arraez roped an RBI single to center and then scored on an RBI double off the bat of Bryan De La Cruz. Hudson got six whiffs on 78 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. Now 0-5 on the season, he’ll try again to get into the win column as he carries a 5.93 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and an 18/17 K/BB ratio (30 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Giants in Colorado. • Oswaldo Cabrera powers Yankees past Orioles
Oswaldo Cabrera swatted a two-run homer off of Corbin Burnes on Wednesday night, powering the Yankees to a 2-0 victory over the Orioles in Baltimore.

Advice: Cabrera accounted for the only scoring for either team in the ballgame, poking a 352-foot (103.3 mph EV) two-out, two-run homer just over the wall in right field and just inside the foul pole to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning. He also singled in the ballgame and swiped a base, finishing the night 2-for-3. On the season, the versatile 25-year-old is now hitting .262/.300/.417 with four homers, 18 RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Rotoworld 48 minutes ago

Gil generated nine whiffs on 95 pitches on the night — six of those on his fastball which averaged 95.8 mph — while posting a CSW of 26 percent. The 25-year-old hurler has made a major impact in the Yankees’ rotation through the first month-plus of the season, going 2-1 with a 3.19 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and a 40/20 K/BB ratio over 31 innings through his first six starts.
