• Back to .500
Anderson (4-4) yielded a run on two hits and two walks over seven innings Friday, striking out four and earning a win over the Rangers.

Advice: Anderson was sharp Friday and the only blemish on his final line was a solo shot by Jonah Heim in the second inning. Anderson has won back-to-back starts after going 0-4 over his previous five outings. Despite what that losing streak may suggest, he registered a 4.08 ERA during that span and Friday's start lowered his season ERA to 2.72 through 56.1 frames. Anderson's next start is currently projected to be in Houston next week. Rotowire.com 3 minutes ago

  • Yields one run in no-decision
Spence did not factor into the decision Friday against Kansas City, allowing one run on four hits and no walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Spence faired well in his first major league start Friday night after tossing his first 25.1 innings out of the bullpen. The rookie right-hander generated nine whiffs over 77 pitches en route to his four strikeouts. Should Spence draw another turn in the Oakland rotation, he would be slated to face the Rockies at home. • Blake Snell strikes out 10 in rehab start Friday
Blake Snell was outstanding in Friday’s minor league rehab start at Triple-A Sacramento, piling up 10 strikeouts over five innings of no-hit baseball.

Advice: The plan all along had been for Snell to rejoin the Giants’ rotation next week as long as this start went well, and he was nearly perfect. Look for him to slot back into the team’s rotation against the Pirates in Pittsburgh next week. Prior to landing on the injured list, Snell had gone 0-3 with an 11.57 ERA and 1.97 WHIP over his first three starts. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

  • Fans 10 in win
Waldron (2-5) earned the win Friday against Atlanta, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out 10.

Advice: Waldron made the Atlanta lineup look uncomfortable in the batter's box all Friday night with his patented knuckleball. The San Diego right-hander used 98 pitches to reach double-digit strikeouts in a start for the first time in his career. Waldron sports a 5.00 ERA in 45 innings this season, but has been slightly unlucky, as evidenced by his 3.98 FIP. The knuckleballer lines up to face the Reds on the road for his next outing. • Hunter Brown allows four in win over Brewers
Hunter Brown gave up four runs in five innings but still picked up the win Friday against the Brewers.

Advice: Brown allows four hits — two of them homers, including a three-run homer by Joey Ortiz — and he walked three while striking out five. It’s another mediocre start from the right-hander, and mediocre seems to be pretty kind at this stage. It’s never a good sign when five innings of four-run baseball sees your ERA drop to 7.71. That being said, it was good enough for the win Friday, and it’s the first of the season for Brown. Rotoworld 44 minutes ago

  • Tyler Alexander wins, pitches into eighth inning
Tyler Alexander pitched a career-high 7 ⅓ innings in a 4-3 win over the Blue Jays on Friday. He allowed three runs, three hits, and struck out four.

Advice: It’s been a trying season for Alexander as he’s fully transitioned into a starter’s role with the Tampa Bay rotation strapped for depth and this was his best start. It’s still difficult to trust him moving forward. Rotoworld 47 minutes ago

  • Allows one run in no-decision
Woods Richardson did not factor into the decision Friday against the Guardians, allowing one run on four hits and no walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Woods Richardson looked much steadier in his outing Friday night, allowing just five baserunners by scattering four singles and issuing one hit-by-pitch. It also marked his first career start without allowing a walk, as he yielded at least one base on balls in each of his previous six starts. The 23-year-old right-hander is scheduled to pitch against the Nationals on the road in his next outing. Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago
  • Mike Clevinger doesn’t finish five innings in loss
Mike Clevinger allowed three earned runs in 4 ⅔ innings in a loss to the Yankees on Friday. He also walked two and struck out five.

Advice: Clevinger ran into the buzzsaw that is Aaron Judge who took him deep in the first and then fell victim to the middle of the Yankees lineup in a two-run fourth inning. Such is life for the modern version of Clevinger who will take a 5.56 ERA into his next start against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld Today, 7:07 pm

  • Jesús Luzardo strikes out seven, earns win
Jesús Luzardo completed six innings in the Marlins 8-0 win over the Mets on Friday. He struck out seven, walked none, and allowed seven hits.

Advice: Luzardo has been fantastic since returning from the IL, striking out 15 in 11 ⅔ innings across two starts putting a rough start to the season behind him. However, be advised his fastball averaged just 94.7 MPH Friday. That was his lowest mark in a single start this season and after he’s already spent time on the shelf with elbow tightness.
