    • Bryce Harper powers Phillies past Giants on Sunday
Bryce Harper connected on a three-run homer in the third inning on Sunday night, powering the Phillies to a 5-4 victory over the visiting Giants.

Advice: No Trea Turner, no problem for the National League’s hottest team as they won their fifth consecutive game and ninth of their last 10. The 31-year-old superstar tagged Giants’ starter Logan Webb for his 410-foot (107.0 mph EV) two-run blast, increasing the Phillies’ early advantage to 4-1. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the evening. For the season, he’s now hitting .234/.368/.468 with seven homers, 21 RBI and one stolen base through his first 31 ballgames. • José Alvarado gives up homer, closes out Giants
José Alvarado served up a solo homer in the ninth inning on Sunday night, but was still able to close out the Giants to protect a one-run lead and secure his seventh save of the season.

Advice: The 28-year-old southpaw gave up a one-out solo blast to Jakson Reetz that pulled the Giants to within a run, but he battled back to strike out Nick Ahmed and got Jung Hoo Lee on a fly ball to right field to end it. He has now recorded seven of the team’s 12 total saves on the season while registering a 4.30 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 15/7 K/BB ratio across his 14 2/3 frames. Rotoworld Today, 7:11 pm
    • Ohtani has four hits, two HR in win over ATL
Shohei Ohtani went 4-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and two runs scored in a 5-1 win over the Braves on Sunday.

Advice: This guy is pretty good. Ohtani got things started in the first inning with a 412-foot two-run shot off of Max Fried and then absolutely annihilated a 464-foot solo homer in the eighth inning that left the bat at 110.6 mph. Ohtani now has 10 home runs and 25 RBI on the season. There’s not much you can do if you don’t already have him on your team, but you can admire the talent. Rotoworld Today, 5:36 pm

    • Christopher Morel reaches four times in win Sunday
Christopher Morel singled, drove in a run and drew three walks on Sunday afternoon as the Cubs bested the Brewers.

Advice: The hot-hitting 24-year-old third baseman capped off the scoring in the contest with a two-out RBI single off of Janson Junk in the seventh inning. He also walked three times in the ballgame, but the Cubs were never able to cash him in. On the season, he’s now slashing .220/.312/.431 with seven long balls, 21 RBI and three stolen bases through his first 34 games. Rotoworld Today, 2:42 pm

    • Resumes throwing program
Rodriguez (shoulder) played catch from 60-to-75 feet Sunday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Rodriguez landed on the injured list with shoulder inflammation following his April 29 start against the Yankees, and he ended up being shut down from throwing for only a few days. The right-hander could soon ramp up to bullpen sessions, and it remains to be seen if he'll require a minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining Baltimore's rotation. • Could be back by next weekend
Astros GM Dana Brown said Sunday that the plan is to have Javier (neck) "back by at least the Detroit series" that begins Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The right-hander threw 68 pitches during his rehab start with Double-A Corpus Christi on Saturday, allowing three runs on three hits with three strikeouts and two walks. The Astros have already listed their probable starters for the three-game set against the Yankees this week, which sets up Javier to potentially pitch next weekend versus the Tigers. • Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) throws from 75 feet
Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) was able to throw off flat ground Sunday.

Advice: Orioles pitching coach Drew French told reporters that Rodriguez threw from 60-75 foot away and that it was a “good day” for him. The right-hander has been on the shelf since May 1 with shoulder inflammation, and while there’s no timetable for his return, it’s certainly a positive development that he’s able to throw a few days later. • Ezequiel Tovar gets first day off of season
Ezequiel Tovar is not in the lineup to begin Sunday’s game against the Pirates.

Advice: For the first time in 2024, Tovar will get a day off. The shortstop will at least begin Sunday’s finale on the bench with Alan Trejo handling his duties. Rotoworld Today, 9:54 am

    • Receiving first day off
Tovar is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Advice: Tovar will take a seat for the first time all season after starting in each of Colorado's first 33 games, enabling Alan Trejo to enter the lineup at shortstop. The Rockies are likely hoping that a day on the bench will be helpful for Tovar as he looks to break out of his recent funk at the plate; over his last nine games, he's slashing .128/.171/.154 with a 39 percent strikeout rate.
