• Sitting again
Calhoun is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Calhoun will take a seat for a second straight game Friday, with Kevin Pillar playing left field and batting cleanup while Taylor Ward bats third as the DH. Calhoun is 10-for-30 (.333) in June with five walks and two strikeouts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:45 pm
  • Looks sharp Friday
Hendricks tossed 4.1 scoreless innings of relief in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Cardinals. He allowed two hits and struck out one.

Advice: Chicago starter Jordan Hicks departed after just 1.2 innings due to an oblique injury, which pushed Hendricks into action. The veteran responded well and had perhaps his best outing of the season, giving the Cubs some much-needed length out of the bullpen. While Hendricks still has an ugly 8.20 ERA overall, he's been better lately with 8.2 scoreless innings over his last three appearances. The veteran is the most likely candidate to move into the rotation with Wicks expected to land on the IL. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:38 pm
  • Still not doing on-field work
Tucker (lower leg) won't play in Saturday's game against Detroit and has yet to participate in on-field activities, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Advice: There was initially optimism that Tucker would be able to return from the IL when first eligible Friday, but that doesn't seem imminent. The Astros could keep Tucker out through the weekend and activate him for a three-game road series against the White Sox that kicks off Tuesday if he shows some progress. • Jordan Wicks (oblique) expected to land on IL
Cubs’ manager Craig Counsell admitted after Friday’s loss to the Cardinals that Jordan Wicks will likely land on the 15-day injured list with the oblique strain that he suffered on Friday.

Advice: Wicks was pulled from his outing against the Cardinals after just 1 2/3 innings after sustaining the injury. Kyle Hendricks did a nice job in relief of him on Friday and he seems like the most logical candidate to replace Wicks in the Cubs’ rotation. As always, he makes for an unappealing option for fantasy purposes. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:13 pm

  • IL stint likely
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said after Friday's 3-0 loss to the Cardinals that Wicks will get an MRI for his right oblique and that a stint on the injured list is "likely," Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Wicks was lifted from Friday's game after just 1.2 innings due to right oblique discomfort. He was previously on the injured list due to a left forearm strain that kept him out of action for nearly six weeks. Wicks made two appearances since being activated from the IL on June 7, including Friday's start. Kyle Hendricks came in to replace Wicks on Friday, and he figures to enter the Cubs' rotation. • Kyle Tucker (shin) won’t be ready on Saturday
Astros’ manager Joe Espada told reporters on Friday that Kyle Tucker (shin) will not be ready to be activated from the injured list on Saturday.

Advice: While he noted that Tucker is “moving in the right direction” he also admitted that Tucker is not doing baseball activities yet. While a return at some point over the weekend hasn’t been ruled out yet, it seems unlikely if he’s not doing any baseball activities yet. A more likely scenario has the 27-year-old superstar outfielder returning to action next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:10 pm

  • Kyle Hendricks goes 4 1/3 scoreless in relief
Kyle Hendricks pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings after replacing an injured Jordan Wicks in the second Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Hendricks struck out just one, but he walked none and allowed only one hard-hit ball. One imagines Wicks will join Ben Brown on the IL tomorrow, likely resulting in Hendricks’ return to the rotation. That doesn’t make him a fantasy option, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he does a better job of holding his own this time around. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:05 pm
  • Cade Cavalli (elbow) to throw live bullpen session
Cade Cavalli (elbow) is scheduled to throw a live bullpen session on Saturday.

Advice: If all goes well with that session, it’s possible that the 25-year-old hurler could be cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment. He’s going to need several starts there before he’s an option to join the Nationals’ rotation, but he’s certainly taking tangible strides in that direction. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:44 pm

  • Slated for live batting practice
Cavalli (elbow) will throw a live batting practice session Saturday, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: The Nationals pulled Cavalli off his rehab assignment earlier this month, although they referred to it as merely giving the pitcher a break rather than it being a setback as he comes back from Tommy John surgery. Since he's facing hitters again, the righty figures to resume his rehab assignment soon. He could be an option for the Nationals' rotation after the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:40 pm
