• Nolan Gorman homers to lead Cardinals past Orioles
Nolan Gorman hit a two-run homer after play resumed Wednesday as the Cardinals beat the Orioles 3-1 in Tuesday’s suspended game.

Advice: Gorman also doubled in the Cardinals’ lone run before play was halted in a 1-1 game last night. The homer today came immediately came right after play resumed in the bottom of the sixth and made a winner of Lance Lynn, who pitched six innings of one-run ball last night. Gorman has four homers and 10 RBI in his last 11 games. His OPS has jumped from .575 to .724 during that span, and he should probably be picked up in leagues in which he was dropped. • Ryan Helsley notches 15th save
Ryan Helsley picked up his 15th save Wednesday after play resumed in Tuesday’s suspended game versus the Orioles.

Advice: Helsley walked Jordan Westburg with one out, but he then got a double-play ball from Collin Cowser to end the game. Helsley has converted all of his save chances since blowing one in his season debut March 30. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago
  • Side session on tap
Manager A.J. Hinch said that Maeda (illness) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday or Thursday before the Tigers determine the right-hander's next steps, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Placed on the 15-day injured list May 11 while he battled a viral illness, Maeda appears to be close to a return after he was able to complete a three-inning rehab start with Triple-A Toledo this past Sunday. The Tigers have already decided on their starting pitchers through Friday, but if Maeda comes out of his side session no worse for the wear, he could be an option to take the hill Saturday versus the Blue Jays if Detroit wants to give Reese Olson (hip) some extra time off to recover from an injury. If the Tigers are confident in Olson's health heading into the weekend, however, Maeda could be sent out to Toledo for a second rehab start to build up his pitch count. Rotowire.com Today, 6:36 am
  • Removed with groin injury
Grandal was removed from Tuesday's game against the Giants due to left groin discomfort, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: After going hitless in his first three at-bats of the night, Grandal doubled and came around to score during Pittsburgh's ninth-inning rally, but he was unable to catch in the top of the 10th inning. The severity of his injury isn't immediately apparent, but the Pirates should have more information on the veteran backstop's injury before the start of Wednesday's game. • Yasmani Grandal leaves game with groin discomfort
Yasmani Grandal was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Giants with left groin discomfort.

Advice: Let’s check in on Henry Davis, folks. Grandal could wind up hitting the injured list in the coming days, if the issue winds up being serious. There should be an update on his status at some point prior to Wednesday’s contest. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:46 pm
  • On bench Tuesday
Santander is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Santander has been banged up with bruised knee recently and will get a day off Tuesday after going hitless in his last 10 at-bats. Colton Cowser will bat fifth and play left field against Lance Lynn and the Cardinals. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:22 pm
  • Sitting versus righty
Tellez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.

Advice: It's notable because the Pirates are facing a right-hander in Logan Webb. Tellez has started all but two games versus righties this season, but the two times he wasn't in the lineup have both come over the last week. With a .181/.250/.233 batting line in 44 contests this season, Tellez's time in Pittsburgh might be running out. Connor Joe will handle first base Tuesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:29 am
  • Picks up 14th save
Helsley walked one and struck out none over a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Monday's 6-3 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Helsley hadn't pitched since last Tuesday, but he didn't show much rust. The closer is on a 10-inning scoreless streak, and he's earned seven saves and a win in that span. For the season, he's 14-for-15 in save chances with a 2-2 record, a 1.29 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 23:3 K:BB over 21 innings. Helsley's strong pitching has helped him go unquestioned as the Cardinals' closer this year, though the team's 21-26 record leaves some doubt about whether he can keep picking up saves at such a strong pace. • Helsley records 14th save Monday
Ryan Helsley picked up his 14th save of the season against the Orioles on Monday.

Advice: Helsley pitched another scoreless ninth inning, which was his 15th consecutive appearance without allowing an earned run. He walked Austin Hays with two outs before getting Cedric Mullens to fly out to end the game. Helsley last allowed an earned run on April 8th. Since then he has converted 11 saves and finished 14 games. Rotoworld Monday, 8:02 pm
