    • Mendoza: Edwin Díaz set to return on Thursday
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters Edwin Díaz (shoulder) will be activated on Thursday.

Advice: Díaz struck out three batters in a pair of scoreless relief rehab appearances for High-A Brooklyn and will return to fortify the back-end of New York’s bullpen ahead of Thursday’s series finale against the Marlins. The 30-year-old stopper has been on the shelf since late May recovering from a right shoulder impingement. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:10 pm

    • Andrés Muñoz’s status to be evaluated daily
Andrés Muñoz is still dealing with his sore back, according to manager Scott Servais, and could be day-to-day for the foreseeable future.

Advice: We’re guessing that means Muñoz won’t go tonight after throwing 15 pitches in a scoreless inning Sunday. Ryne Stanek could be the favorite to close tonight. Rotoworld Monday, 4:27 pm
    • Andrés Muñoz gets hold in return from sore back
Andrés Muñoz, who hadn’t pitched since aggravating his back Tuesday, returned to the mound with a scoreless eighth inning Sunday against the Royals.

Advice: Rather than save him for the ninth, the Mariners opted to use Muñoz against the top of the Royals order in the eighth with a two-run lead today. Muñoz did his part, but Michael Baumann went on to give up a game-tying homer in the bottom of the ninth. The Mariners went on to win in the 10th, with Tayler Saucedo collecting a one-out save. Ryne Stanek, typically the primary alternative to Muñoz, went unused for a second straight day after throwing 39 pitches between Thursday and Friday. Rotoworld Jun 9, 5:22 pm
    • Could return Tuesday
Diaz (shoulder) pitched a scoreless inning Sunday for High-A Brooklyn and could return from the 15-day injured list as soon as Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: A report from earlier in the week suggested Diaz could return Wednesday or Thursday, so DiComo's report bumps up his potential return by a day. Catcher Francisco Alvarez (thumb) is also tracking toward a potential return from the IL on Tuesday. Rotowire.com Jun 9, 4:15 pm

    • Back in action
Munoz (back) recorded one strikeout in a perfect eighth inning Sunday against the Royals. He said he "felt weird" out on the mound and was happy with the outing even though he didn't feel like he had his best stuff or command, per Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times.

Advice: He was the first reliever out of the bullpen after George Kirby tossed seven innings of one-run ball. Mike Baumann came on in the ninth inning and gave up two earned runs to blow the save (and eventually pick up the win). It sounds like Munoz will be considered available going forward, although his back might not feel fully healthy. Rotowire.com Jun 9, 4:06 pm
    • Andrés Muñoz available in relief this weekend
Andrés Muñoz (back) is available for Saturday’s game against the Royals.

Advice: Muñoz has been dealing with a back strain that he tweaked during an on-field collision earlier this week and appears ready to return this weekend after getting through a couple bullpen sessions without any issues. Rotoworld Jun 8, 11:56 am
    • Throws light bullpen Friday
Munoz (back) threw a light bullpen session before Friday's game against the Royals, per Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times, but the reliever did not appear in the contest.

Advice: Divish had noted there was a possibility Munoz would be available for the first time since exiting Tuesday's game against the Athletics, but it was Ryne Stanek who got the ninth-inning call and ultimately failed to protect a 9-7 lead. With Stanek having appeared in three of the last four games and having thrown 39 pitches in the last two nights, Munoz would certainly be in line for any high-leverage work Saturday if he's healthy enough to handle it.
