    • Swats solo shot Monday
Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk in Monday's 8-4 victory against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Smith padded the Dodgers' lead in the sixth inning with a 407-foot solo blast to center field. It was the backstop's second long ball in three games after he went deep just once over his first 23 contests of the campaign. Though he's been pretty quiet in the power department thus far, Smith is having an outstanding start to the season, slashing .363/.404/.539 with 22 RBI and 16 runs through 114 plate appearances. • Nick Lodolo strikes out 11 in defeating Padres
Nick Lodolo limited the Padres to one run and one hit while striking out 11 in seven innings Monday in the Reds’ 5-2 victory.

Advice: That Lodolo has looked this good this soon after his season-opening IL stint has been a very nice surprise. Maybe he’s not as good of a bet to stay healthy as some, but he’s throwing like an ace right now and the stuff is there for him to keep it up. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:05 pm
    • Punches out 11 Padres in victory
Lodolo (3-0) earned the win over San Diego on Monday, allowing one run on one hit and two walks while striking out 11 batters over seven innings.

Advice: Lodolo's outing got off to an inauspicious start when he gave up a home run to the first batter he faced (Jurickson Profar), but that would end up being the only hit given up by the 26-year-old hurler over seven frames. The southpaw finished with an impressive 22 whiffs and a season-high 11 punchouts, marking his second double-digit strikeout effort through four starts. Lodolo has given up one or zero runs in three of those appearances and is thriving thus far with a 1.88 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 31:6 K:BB over 24 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:03 pm
    • Set for Tuesday return
Darvish (neck) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Reds, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Darvish successfully fired a bullpen session Wednesday and will be activated from the IL when first eligible after missing time with neck tightness. He hasn't had his best stuff through his first five outings of the 2024 campaign, posting a 4.18 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 22 punchouts over 23.2 frames. Expect the Padres to officially activate Darvish closer to first pitch. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:32 pm

    • Turns in scoreless outing
Pepiot (3-2) yielded two hits over six shutout frames Monday, striking out seven and earning a win over the Brewers.

Advice: Pepiot was nearly untouchable Monday, allowing just one Brewer to reach scoring position. At one point, he retired 14 consecutive batters. He's produced three straight quality starts and four in his six appearances this year. Over his last outings, Pepiot has given up just two runs with an 18:5 K:BB through 18 innings. He'll carry a 3.12 ERA into his next start, which is projected to be at home against the Mets this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:34 pm

    • Ryan Pepiot throws six scoreless innings in win
Ryan Pepiot went six scoreless innings and punched out seven batters in Monday’s 1-0 win against the Brewers.

Advice: Pepiot has now made it through six innings in three straight starts. After allowing four or more earned runs in two of his first three starts this season, the 26-year-old has found his rhythm and hasn’t allowed more than one run in his last three outings. Opponents are now batting .168 against the right-hander and he now has 38 strikeouts through his first six starts. He’s a must start in all fantasy formats and will look to continue a solid 2024 campaign against the Mets. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:12 pm

    • Jackson Merrill not in lineup Monday vs. Reds
Jackson Merrill is not in the starting lineup for Monday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: Merrill returned to the lineup from his groin injury on Saturday and also played Sunday, so this appears to be a day of maintenance for the 21-year-old. Jose Azocar will play center and hit eighth Monday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:52 pm

    • Getting first start in left field
Judge will start in left field and bat third in Monday's game in Baltimore.

Advice: Judge received some reps in left field during spring training, but this is the first time he's made a start at the position in a regular season game since 2016 when he was with Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes-Barre. He could see additional action in left field during the series against the Orioles while Alex Verdugo is on paternity leave. Trent Grisham is getting a rare start in center field Monday. • Shaking off cold stretch
Bregman went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored Sunday against Colorado.

Advice: Bregman has an ugly .216 average in 108 plate appearances to start the season. He's shown small signs of turning things around at the plate, as he has at least one hit in three of his last four games. More concerning is that Bregman has just a .052 ISO to go along with two barrels in 81 batted-ball events. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:35 pm
