    • Erick Fedde twirls seven-inning gem vs. Nats
Erick Fedde recorded six strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Tuesday in a win over the Nationals.

Advice: Fedde took the ball for the nightcap of Tuesday’s twin bill against the Nationals and wound up scattering three hits over seven stellar frames. He wasn’t overpowering, generating just six swinging strikes, but limited Washington’s lineup to just eight batted ball with an exit velocity over 95 mph. He’s fired 13 consecutive scoreless frames over his last two starts. He’ll bring a strong 2.60 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 50/14 K/BB ratio across 52 innings (nine starts) into a road matchup on Monday against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld Today, 7:22 pm

    • Complete game vs. Mets
Nola (5-2) earned the win, allowing just four hits over nine shutout innings Tuesday against the Mets. He struck out eight.

Advice: Nola was dominant Tuesday, holding the Mets without a baserunner until the sixth inning en route to the fourth complete-game shutout of his career. It's certainly an encouraging outing for Nola, after he'd posted a subpar 5.59 ERA over his previous two starts (9.2 innings). The 30-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 3.10 on the season with a 1.09 WHIP and 55:15 K:BB through nine outings (58 innings). Nola's currently in line to make a second start this week Sunday at home versus the Nationals. Rotowire.com Today, 3:44 pm

    • Aaron Nola hurls fourth career shutout versus Mets
Aaron Nola pitched his fourth career shutout Tuesday with a four-hitter in the Phillies’ 4-0 win over the Mets.

Advice: Nola struck out eight and walked none in the 109-pitch outing. The shutout was nearly lost in the ninth, when Jeff McNeil doubled with one out and Starling Marte singled with two. Under other circumstances, McNeil might have tried to score on the hit to left, though it made no sense in the four-run game today. Nola’s shutout is the fifth by an MLB pitcher this year. Teammate Ranger Suárez had one of the others. Nola is now 5-2 with a 3.10 ERA. Rotoworld Today, 1:13 pm

    • Strikes out seven in no-decision
Montgomery allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out seven over 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Reds on Monday.

Advice: Montgomery turned in an okay outing, missing out on a quality start for the second time in five games for the Diamondbacks. He's pitched to a 4.76 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 17:9 K:BB over 28.1 innings this season. Montgomery's had a bit of trouble racking up strikeouts so far as he's had to get up to speed on the job after signing with Arizona in late March. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Tigers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:16 pm
    • Jordan Montgomery shaky in start against Reds
Jordan Montgomery allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings while not qualifying for a decision against the Reds on Monday.

Advice: Montgomery allowed six hits with three walks, and he was able to strike out seven. He allowed a two-run double in the second inning to Spencer Steer, and the third run came after the southpaw had left the contest on a Mike Ford single. This wasn’t close to the strong outing he had Wednesday against the Reds, but there were some good moments and a few punchouts to help. He’s now the owner of a 4.76 ERA, with a chance to lower that number against the Tigers on Sunday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:04 pm
    • Quality in no-decision
Manaea did not factor into the decision Monday against the Phillies, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Advice: With his effort Monday night, Manaea secured his second straight quality start of six innings, lowering his season ERA to 3.05 over 41.1 innings. Even more encouragingly, the Mets lefty issued only one walk for his second consecutive start after issuing multiple free passes in all his previous six starts. He is slated to face the Marlins on the road in his next start this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:07 pm

    • Sean Manaea tosses six frames against Phillies
Sean Manaea surrendered one run over six innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Phillies.

Advice: Manaea coughed up a run in the opening frame, but managed to keep the Phillies scoreless over his final five innings of work. He struck out six and only issued one walk. The 32-year-old lefty has allowed three earned runs or fewer in seven of his eight starts to kick off his Mets debut. He’ll bring a strong 3.05 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 37/20 K/BB ratio across 41 1/3 innings (eight starts) into an extremely favorable road matchup on Saturday against the last-place Marlins. • Early exit in no-decision
Gausman escaped with a no-decision in Saturday's 10-8 win over the Twins, coughing up seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits and two walks over three innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander had given up only two earned runs across his prior four starts, but Gausman's luck deserted him Saturday as Minnesota scored three times in the first inning on some soft singles and shoddy defense, and the adjustments he tried to make in the next two frames only made matters worse. The Jays were able to rally late to take Gausman off the hook for his fourth loss, however. He'll carry a 4.95 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 37:10 K:BB through 36.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Rays. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:36 pm

    • Kevin Gausman allows 10 hits, six earned vs. Twins
Kevin Gausman allowed seven runs — six earned — over three innings while not factoring into the decision Saturday in a start against the Twins.

Advice: Not ideal. Gausman allowed three runs in the first, another in the second, and three more in the third before leaving the game. The right-hander did strike out six, but it’s hard to be too excited about punchouts when you are this ineffective when the ball is put into play. Gausman’s ERA jumps to 4.95 after this outing from the 3.78 mark he had coming into it. He’ll get a chance to rebound Friday against the Rays. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:19 pm
