• Nabs 10th save
Yates picked up the save over the Dodgers on Thursday, allowing one walk over a scoreless ninth inning while striking out three.

Advice: Yates had a bit of a hard time getting through the ninth after entering the contest with a two-run lead, surrendering a leadoff walk to Teoscar Hernandez on five pitches and advancing him to second base on a balk. However, the veteran reliever made short work of the next three batters, getting all three to go down swinging as he secured his 10th save in as many chances. Yates has been solid in the closer role for Texas thus far and holds a 1.11 ERA on the campaign. He's also recorded multiple strikeouts in three of his last four appearances and has yet to surrender a home run in 2024. Rotowire.com Friday, 7:04 am
  • Racks up 13 strikeouts Thursday
Crochet allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out 13 batters over seven innings in a no-decision against Seattle on Thursday.

Advice: Crochet was absolutely dominant in the outing, inducing 24 swinging strikes and finishing with a career-high 13 punchouts. The only run against the southpaw came via Tyler Locklear's first career homer in the fifth inning, and Crochet was in line for the victory before Michael Kopech blew a save opportunity in the ninth. Despite a few rough starts in April, Crochet has been a revelation for the White Sox and for fantasy managers this season. Over his past nine starts, he's recorded a 1.36 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 76:11 K:BB over 53 innings. Crochet is tied with Tyler Glasnow for the major-league lead with 116 punchouts on the campaign. • Mediocre performance in defeat
Medina (0-2) took the loss against Minnesota on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out three batters over five innings.

Advice: Medina had much better control after issuing five walks across 4.2 frames in his previous start, but his overall stat line wasn't significantly improved. The right-hander took his second straight loss Thursday, giving up a season-high eight hits while striking out just three batters. Medina looked great in his first start of the campaign June 2 against Atlanta with no earned runs allowed over 5.2 innings, but he's yielded 10 earned runs across 9.2 frames since. • Kirby Yates whiffs three in save against Dodgers
Kirby Yates struck out three in a scoreless ninth to get a save against the Dodgers on Thursday.

Advice: Yates did allow a walk, but this was a much better effort than the one he had Wednesday when he picked up a save but was fortunate to not blow the opportunity. The right-hander has been outstanding for the overwhelming majority of 2024, and this scoreless outing gives him a 1.11 ERA along with 10 saves. He isn’t giving up this closing gig. Not anytime soon, anyway. Rotoworld Thursday, 10:09 pm
  • Garrett Crochet weaves gem with 13 strikeouts
Garrett Crochet struck out 13 batters over seven innings of one-run baseball but didn’t pick up a decision Thursday against the Mariners.

Advice: Crochet was absolutely dominant while taking advantage of a team that strikes out at an enormous rate, so the results are equally impressive and not surprising. He did allow a solo homer to Tyler Locklear, but outside of that and a Victor Robles double, it was smooth sailing for the 24-year-old. The 13 punchouts are a season-high, but this is a hurler who has already fanned 116 batters in just-under 83 innings with a 3.16 ERA. Crochet is an absolute must-start regardless of opponent, and he gets the Astros on Wednesday. Rotoworld Thursday, 9:23 pm

  • Medina allows four runs in loss to Twins Thursday
Luis Medina allowed four runs in five innings and took the loss against the Twins on Thursday.

Advice: Medina gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out three. He’s 0-2 with a 5.87 ERA in three starts with Oakland this year. Medina is off the fantasy radar. The 25-year-old right-hander is set to face the Royals at home next week.

  • Rehab picking up
Borucki (wrist) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The session marked Borucki's first time throwing off a slope since he landed on the injured list in early April. He has additional bullpens set for Saturday and Tuesday, after which he may be ready to begin a rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Thursday, 4:38 pm

  • Tosses bullpen session
Gonzales (forearm) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Wednesday's session marked Gonzales' first time throwing off a slope since hitting the injured list in mid-April. He's expected to continue to ramp up with side sessions before heading out on what will presumably be a lengthy rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Thursday, 4:19 pm
  • Pitching final sim game
Kershaw (shoulder) will throw a three-inning simulated game Thursday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Kershaw most recently tossed a two-inning simulated game with the Dodgers' Single-A affiliate in Rancho Cucamonga on June 7, with reports suggesting that his fastball touched 90 miles per hour in the outing. He'll increase his workload in Thursday's simulated game, which will be his last before he begins what will likely be a multi-start minor-league rehab assignment, according to Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register.
