    • Getting day off Wednesday
Grissom is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Rays.

Advice: Grissom had started each of the previous eight contests and nine of 10 games since returning from the injured list, but he'll begin Wednesday's game on the bench as the Red Sox square off against Taj Bradley and the Rays. The 23-year-old has gotten off to a slow start, going just 5-for-37 with a 7:0 K:BB. David Hamilton will draw a start at second base Wednesday. Rotowire.com 38 minutes ago

    • Elly De La Cruz sits for first time this season
Elly De La Cruz is absent from the Reds lineup Wednesday for the first time this season.

Advice: No word of any injury, and we’re going to assume this was a planned day off. Spencer Steer got one yesterday, and he also had been in the lineup every game this season. The Reds have Santiago Espinal at shortstop today. Rotoworld Today, 10:20 am
    • Receives first day off
De La Cruz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Arizona.

Advice: For the first time all season, De La Cruz will exit the starting nine for what looks to be a routine maintenance day before the Reds continue their road trip Thursday in Los Angeles. Santiago Espinal will step in at shortstop in place of De La Cruz, who has slowed down a bit at the plate of late with two hits and six strikeouts in 14 at-bats over his last three games. • Nico Hoerner scratched with hamstring tightness
Nico Hoerner was scratched from Tuesday’s lineup due to left hamstring tightness.

Advice: It sounds like a precautionary measure since Hoerner was in Chicago’s original lineup, but it’s a situation fantasy managers should keep a close eye on moving forward. The 27-year-old middle infielder should be considered day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:24 pm

    • Scratched from lineup
Hoerner was scratched from Tuesday's lineup against Atlanta due to left hamstring tightness, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Hoerner was originally slated to bat leadoff for Chicago in Game 2 of its series in Atlanta, but he will now be forced to take a seat. More information on his injury will likely be provided following the contest, but in the meantime, Miles Mastrobuoni will take over at shortstop and bat eighth against Atlanta. • Cora: Vaughn Grissom lost 14 pounds while sick
Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters Tuesday that Vaughn Grissom lost 14 pounds due to illness earlier this month.

Advice: This certainly helps explain some of his struggles out of the gate as he’s batting .152 (5-for-33) with one extra-base hit and two RBI through eight games in his Red Sox debut. It’s been a strange few injury-plagued months for the 23-year-old middle infielder since arriving in Boston in the Chris Sale trade. If he can get back into a normal routine for a few weeks, it could help him re-discover his form at the plate. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:37 pm

    • Swats homer in loss
De La Cruz went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and was hit by a pitch in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Giants.

Advice: De La Cruz launched his ninth home run in the fourth inning for the Reds' lone run. He entered Saturday with multiple steals in three straight games. The dynamic infielder has hit safely in three straight and is batting .272 with a .910 OPS over 158 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:05 am
    • Goes deep in loss
Hoerner went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run, an additional run scored and two total RBI in Saturday's 10-9 loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Hoerner took rookie Paul Skenes deep in the fourth inning for just his second long ball of the season. He drove in another run an inning later when he walked with the bases loaded. The low power output isn't too surprising, as Hoerner had only nine home runs last year and just 10 in 2022. The shortstop has still been productive in May with a .300 batting average and .941 OPS for the month along with both homers and three stolen bases. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:35 am

    • Nico Hoerner clubs solo homer in loss to Pirates
Nico Hoerner clubbed his second home run of the season on Saturday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Cubs past the Pirates in a wild one at PNC Park.

Advice: Hoerner tagged Pirates’ phenom Paul Skenes for his 380-foot (99.5 mph EV) wall-scraping solo shot to get the Cubs on the board in the fourth inning. The 26-year-old infielder also drew the first of the Cubs’ six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning. That’s right, six bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning. He finished the day 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI and two runs scored and is now hitting .272/.351/.397 with two homers, 12 RBI and four stolen bases. Rotoworld Saturday, 6:44 pm
