• Likely to make start Wednesday
Leiter has joined the Rangers in Oakland and would appear likely to make a start during Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Athletics, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Michael Lorenzen will start one of Wednesday's games in Oakland. The Rangers have not yet announced a starter for the other contest, but it's reasonable to now assume it will be Leiter. The young right-hander struggled in a spot start in Detroit last month in his major-league debut in yielding seven runs over 3.2 frames, but he's been sharp at Triple-A Round Rock with a 2.84 ERA and 37:8 K:BB over 25.1 innings. While there is obvious risk, Leiter represents an intriguing streaming option Wednesday. He's a possibility to make at least one additional start, as well, while Nathan Eovaldi (groin) recovers. • Out with shoulder injury
France was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday with a shoulder injury, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The right-hander was demoted to Triple-A on April 25 and surrendered three runs over 3.2 innings during his lone start prior to the injury. France is without an official timeline for his return but could be out "a while," per Rome. The injury won't immediately affect the Astros' rotation but is a big hit to their depth. • Beginning rehab assignment
Peraza (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Tuesday.

Advice: Peraza is finally ready to test things out in a game setting after working his way back from a right shoulder strain which he initially suffered back in late February. Given how much time he's missed, he will presumably require more than a handful of rehab games. Peraza also isn't a given to immediately be added to the big-league roster, although the status of DJ LeMahieu (foot) will be a factor. Rotowire.com 46 minutes ago

  • Notches first steal
Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base Monday in a 6-3 victory versus the Cubs.

Advice: Cronenworth's first theft of the campaign came as part of a double-steal with Fernando Tatis in the sixth inning, and both players subsequently came home on a Jurickson Profar single. Cronenworth doesn't typically offer much in terms of speed, though he did swipe a career-high six bags last season. The first baseman is working on a 10-game hitting streak during which he has slashed .357/.378/.690 with three homers, 10 RBI and seven runs. Rotowire.com 48 minutes ago
  • Swipes bag Monday
Tatis went 1-for-5 with a run and a stolen base in Monday's 6-3 win against the Cubs.

Advice: Tatis helped generate San Diego's first run, reaching on a leadoff single in the sixth inning, advancing to second on another single, then taking part in a double steal with Jake Cronenworth before both players scored on a Jurickson Profar hit. Tatis has been somewhat quiet at the plate this season, but he's still been moderately productive with a .248/.327/.442 slash line, seven homers, 20 RBI, 28 runs and five stolen bases through 168 plate appearances. He's gone 7-for-23 with a homer, a steal, six runs and three RBI through the first five games of May. Rotowire.com 58 minutes ago
  • Athletics option Dany Jiménez to Triple-A
Athletics optioned RHP Dany Jiménez to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: The 30-year-old reliever will head down to the minors after making 15 appearances with the Athletics where he posted a 3.68 ERA, 1.50 WHIP with a 11/13 K/BB ratio across 14 2/3 innings. Jiménez is 0-for-2 with his save opportunities this season, which is something that may have been a factor in the organization’s decision to send him down to the minors. • Resuming mound work
Bachman (shoulder) is scheduled to throw off a mound Tuesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Bachman underwent shoulder surgery last October and had his rehab halted by back spasms in late April. However, the back issue appears to have subsided, allowing the right-hander to resume working toward a return to game action. Bachman is likely to need a multi-week rehab assignment in the minors before the Angels consider bringing him up to the big-league club. Rotowire.com Today, 9:40 am

  • Sent to minors
The Athletics optioned Jimenez to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Advice: The right-hander began the season in a high-leverage role and didn't give up an earned run in his first five appearances, but he has a 5.40 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 9:8 K:BB over his past 10 innings. Six of those walks came in Jimenez's past four outings, and he'll head to Triple-A to work on his command. Rotowire.com Today, 9:19 am

  • Back in starting nine Monday
Ruiz (wrist) will start in left field and bat leadoff in Monday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: After he was pulled from Saturday's 20-4 win over the Marlins with a wrist injury, Ruiz was sent in for an MRI, but the imaging evidently revealed nothing concerning. The speedy outfielder will slot back in atop the lineup with Oakland facing a left-hander (Andrew Heaney) on Monday, but Ruiz still looks as though he'll be limited to a short-side platoon role that will limit his opportunities to play against right-handed pitching.
