• Jose Miranda drives in two as Twins crush Angels
Jose Miranda went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two RBI on Sunday, leading the Twins to an 11-5 victory over the Angels.

Advice: Miranda opened the scoring in the ballgame with an RBI single off of Reid Detmers in the fourth inning. He then capped off the Twins’ offense in the onslaught with an RBI double in the eighth that drove in Byron Buxton. With his three-hit effort, the 25-year-old infielder is now hitting .292/.320/.500 with a pair of homers, six RBI and a stolen base on the season. Rotoworld 56 minutes ago

  • Byron Buxton picks up first stolen base of 2024
Byron Buxton went 1-for-4 with three runs scored and picked up his first stolen base of the 2024 campaign as the Twins walloped the Angels on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles.

Advice: Buxton reached on a fielder’s choice in the fourth inning and came around to score the first run of the game on an RBI single by Jose Miranda. The 30-year-old outfielder also drew a walk in the seventh inning and scored on a ground out by Carlos Santana. He finished his day with a single in the eighth inning, then swiped second base and scored on an RBI double by Miranda. Buxton has remained relatively healthy so far this season, but is hitting an underwhelming .244/.283/.384 with one homer, 11 RBI and one stolen base. Rotoworld Today, 5:14 pm

  • Pablo López defeats Angels to improve to 2-2
Pablo López picked up his second victory of the 2024 season on Sunday, limiting the Angels to four runs on four hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: López punched out eight batters on the afternoon while allowing only one base on balls. He kept the Angels off the board completely through the first four innings, but they saddled him with four runs in the fifth — courtesy of home runs from Luis Rengifo and Nolan Schanuel. López generated 13 swings and misses on 87 pitches in the contest, posting a strong CSW of 29 percent. He now holds a 4.83 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and a 37/7 K/BB ratio over 31 2/3 innings through his first six starts on the season. He’ll do battle against the Red Sox his next time out at home on Saturday. • Starting Tuesday
Turnbull will start Tuesday's game against the Angels, with Zack Wheeler getting moved back a day and Aaron Nola moved back to Friday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Advice: Manager Rob Thomson said that he wanted to give Wheeler and Nola the extra rest days, and that he's not inclined to go with a six-man rotation. However, this buys him another start to compare Turnbull against Taijuan Walker and allows people to use Turnbull for another week. Rotowire.com Today, 5:06 pm
  • Luis Rengifo swats first home run in loss Sunday
Luis Rengifo swatted his first home run of the season on Sunday afternoon as the Angels fell to the Twins.

Advice: The versatile 27-year-old tagged Twins’ right-hander Pablo Lopez for his 372-foot (95.7 mph EV) two-run shot in the fifth inning. He was also hit by a pitch in the seventh inning and scored on an RBI single off the bat of Mike Trout. Rengifo finished the afternoon 1-for-3 and is now hitting a solid .289/.341/.395 with a homer, eight RBI and seven stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Today, 5:05 pm

  • Reid Detmers gives up five runs in loss to Twins
Reid Detmers struggled in Sunday afternoon’s loss to the Twins, giving up five runs on nine hits over his five frames.

Advice: The 24-year-old hurler struck out three batters on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. He kept the Twins off the board through the first three innings, but they broke through in the fourth on an RBI single by Jose Miranda. They tacked on an additional four runs in the fifth inning — keyed by a two-run single off the bat of Austin Martin. Detmers got nine swings and misses on 87 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 33 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a 3.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 37/10 K/BB ratio (34 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s tilt against the Guardians in Cleveland. Rotoworld Today, 5:02 pm

  • Paul Blackburn hit hard in no-decision against BAL
Paul Blackburn allowed six runs on seven hits in four innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Sunday.

Advice: It likely wasn’t a game you were starting Blackburn in, but the righty did have five strikeouts to just one walk, while producing a 33 percent whiff rate. His four-seamer was a real problem on Sunday, struggling to find the zone and getting hit incredibly hard. He now has a 3.34 ERA on the season but could remain a deep-league streamer next week against Miami thanks to the weak opponent and his current whiff skills. Rotoworld Today, 2:21 pm

  • Albert Suárez inconsistent in no-decision
Albert Suárez allowed four runs on seven hits in four innings in a no-decision against the A’s.

Advice: Suárez struck out six and walked just one while posting a 35 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW, which is good news. His fastball continued to perform well with 11 whiffs on 26 swings; however, it did also give up a few loud hits, and the cutter and changeup both got hit hard at times on Sunday as well. Suárez remains more of a streamer despite the four-seam propelling him to some solid starts in his first few turns in the rotation. With John Means and Kyle Bradish nearing a return, his time in the rotation could be coming to a close, and he wouldn’t be a recommended start next week against the Yankees either. He can be dropped in most shallow formats. Rotoworld Today, 2:19 pm

  • Wenceel Pérez homers in win over KC
Wenceel Pérez went 2-for-4 with a home run in a win over the Royals on Sunday.

Advice: Pérez’s home run was the first of his MLB career, traveling 370 feet at 103.1 mph off the bat. The rookie is now slashing .286/.359/.514 and was hitting third for the Tigers on Sunday. While he is still not locked into an every day spot in the lineup, there is a path for him to earn more playing time if he keeps hitting like this. Rotoworld Today, 1:49 pm
