    • Locks down save Sunday
Ginkel pitched a perfect ninth in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Mariners to earn his fifth save of the year. He struck out one.

Advice: Ginkel made quick work of the Mariners' hitters, needing only nine pitches to get three outs. He began by striking out Jorge Polanco and got the next two batters out on weak contact to shut the door. Ginkel has stepped up well in the closer role with Paul Sewald (oblique) on the mend, posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB in 12 innings. Sewald recently suffered a minor setback in his recovery, meaning Ginkel will have the closer job for a little while longer. Rotowire.com Today, 3:00 am

    • Three RBI across weekend series
Diaz went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI on Sunday against the Rockies.

Advice: The Astros scored 20 runs combined across their two-game series against Colorado, and Diaz drove in three of those runs. His damage Sunday came late in the contest, as he drove in a pair of runners with a double in the eighth inning. Diaz now has at least one hit in five of his last seven games, and he's collected four extra-base hits (no home runs) in that span. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:28 pm

    • Cruises to ninth save
Finnegan walked one in a scoreless ninth to pick up the save during Sunday's 12-9 victory over the Marlins. He struck out one.

Advice: Finnegan needed 21 pitches to finish the game but kept Miami off the scoreboard to match the league lead with his ninth save in 10 opportunities. He lowered his ERA to 2.19 with a 0.97 WHIP and 11 strikeouts over 12.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:55 pm
    • Kevin Ginkel locks down fifth save on Sunday
Kevin Ginkel locked down his fifth save of the season on Sunday, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a one-run lead against the Mariners.

Advice: Ginkel made it look awfully easy in this one, getting Jorge Polanco on a called third strike, Ty France on a bouncer back to the mound and Mitch Garver on a fly ball to left to end it. He has done a nice job in the absence of closer Paul Sewald, compiling a 3.00 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and a 13/3 K/BB ratio over 12 innings while converting five of his first seven save chances. Sewald suffered a minor setback over the weekend, meaning Ginkel should continue to function in the team’s closer role for at least another week — possibly longer. • Dane Dunning strikes out 10 in 69-pitch victory
Dane Dunning yielded two runs — one earned — in 5 1/3 innings and struck out 10 against the Reds in a win Sunday.

Advice: Dunning threw just 69 pitches, which is the fourth-lowest total in a 10-strikeout game since pitch-count data became complete in 1988. The lowest total is 55 pitches in 3 2/3 innings of relief work by Tyler Alexander in 2020. Norm Charlton struck out 10 in a 67-pitch start in 1989, and Chris Sale fanned 12 on just 68 pitches for the Red Sox six years ago. Dunning moved to 3-2 with a 4.13 ERA. He’ll be a decent play versus the Royals next time out. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:42 pm

    • Andrew Abbott can’t overcome poor first in defeat
Andrew Abbott gave up four runs over five innings Sunday in a loss to the Rangers.

Advice: All of the runs scored in the first. Two came on an inside-the-park homer, but it was a legit inside-the-park homer and not one the defense could have done much about. The other two were produced by a regular old homer from Adolis García. Abbott went on to strike out seven and walk none, so this was a pretty solid day for him. He deserves better than a 1-3 record for his 3.27 ERA. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:42 pm
    • Struggles early against Texas
Abbott (1-3) was tagged with the loss after he pitched 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out seven in Sunday's 4-3 defeat to the Rangers.

Advice: Abbott struggled early, surrendering a pair of two-run home runs in the first inning, including an inside-the-park homer to Wyatt Langford, which gave the Rangers a 4-0 lead. The left-hander was able to settle down after the difficult first frame, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings to end his outing. Abbott entered Sunday having given up two or fewer runs in each of his five starts in 2024, but he'll now carry a 3.27 ERA into his next projected start Saturday at home versus the Orioles. • Goes deep in win
Garcia went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Garcia opened up the scoring in Sunday's contest, taking Andrew Abbott deep for a two-run shot with two outs in the bottom of the first inning, driving in teammate Nathaniel Lowe in the process. The long ball was his eighth of the season and third in his last six contests. The outfielder is now batting .291 with eight homers, 25 RBI, 19 runs scored and four stolen bases over 103 at-bats in 28 games this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:51 pm
    • Kyle Finnegan locks down 9th save of season
Kyle Finnegan closed down the Nationals’ 12-9 win over the Marlins on Sunday.

Advice: It never seems to come easy for Finnegan, who also walked a hitter on Sunday and threw just 56 percent of his pitches for strikes. However, the Marlins weren’t able to mount much of a challenge and he now has a 2.19 ERA to go along with nine saves. Who knows how long it will last, but it’s hard to argue with the current production. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:44 pm
