    • Works four frames in rehab start
Silseth (elbow) struck out seven over four scoreless innings while allowing three hits and no walks in his second rehab start Thursday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Advice: Silseth has now turned in seven scoreless frames over his first two rehab outings in Arizona. Though Silseth has yet to walk a batter in either start, he hasn't exhibited pristine control, as he's uncorked two wild pitches and has hit two batters between those contests. More importantly, however, Silseth hasn't experienced any setbacks with his right elbow and has continued to increase his workload. He built up to 56 pitches Thursday and could reach the 70-pitch mark in his third rehab start, which will likely come Tuesday or Wednesday with a yet-to-be-determined affiliate. After he completes his next rehab start, Silseth could be cleared to return from the 60-day injured list and slot back into the Angels rotation. Rotowire.com 50 minutes ago

    • Moving into rotation Tuesday
Suarez is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

Advice: Suarez made 58 starts for the Angels over the past five seasons, but after losing out in a battle for a rotation spot in spring training, he's been working exclusively as a reliever in 2024 and has posted a 6.54 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 34:20 K:BB in 31.2 innings. He won't be moving into the rotation on merit, but he'll nonetheless slot into the starting spot that had been previously occupied by the struggling Reid Detmers, who was recently demoted to Triple-A Salt Lake. Even if Suarez acquits himself well in a starting role Tuesday, he could be headed back to the bullpen immediately thereafter with Chase Silseth (elbow) nearing a return from the 60-day injured list. • Escapes London with no-decision
Quintana came away with a no-decision in Sunday's win over the Phillies, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out one.

Advice: The veteran southpaw was headed for his sixth loss of the season when he got the hook after 69 pitches (41 strikes), but a late rally from the Mets got him off the hook. Quintana's only win of 2024 came back on April 11 -- since then, he's stumbled to a 5.86 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 32:15 K:BB over 10 starts (50.2 innings). He'll try to turn things around in his next outing, which lines up to come at home this weekend against the Padres. Rotowire.com Today, 7:36 am
    • Hit hard in loss
Mazur (0-1) took the loss Sunday against the Padres, allowing eight runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out two over three innings.

Advice: Mazur was hit hard in just his second MLB start. The Diamondbacks scratched a run against him in the first but did most of their damage in the second when they piled on six runs, which was capped off by a two-run blast by Jake McCarthy. Mazur was able to pitch a clean third but was lifted after allowing a leadoff walk in the fourth and that runner would eventually come around to score. Mazur is known for his elite command of the strike zone but has now walked seven batters over his first nine big league innings and is showing some early jitters. He'll look to turn things around in a road matchup against the Mets over the weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 7:13 am

    • Hit with loss in relief
Puk (0-7) took the loss Sunday against the Guardians, coughing up three runs on three hits in a third of an inning.

Advice: Entering the game in the seventh inning with the score tied 2-2, Puk gave up a couple one-out singles before Tyler Freeman got hold of a sweeper on the inside corner of the plate and pulled it over the left-field fence. Puk's fortunes haven't improved much since he came off the IL in mid-May and returned to the bullpen -- over his last 11 innings, he's stumbled to a 4.91 ERA with a 6:3 K:BB. • Pushing for promotion
Macko could get promoted to Triple-A Buffalo in the near future, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 23-year-old southpaw, acquired from Seattle two offseasons ago, is having a strong campaign with Double-A New Hampshire thanks to improved control. He's found another gear over the last month, posting a 2.81 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 46:7 K:BB through his last six starts and 32 innings. Macko features a mid-90s fastball and a big curveball, but it's the development of his changeup and sweeper that will determine whether he can ultimately thrive in a big-league rotation. • Strong rehab start
Scherzer (back/arm) allowed one hit and one walk while striking out five over four scoreless innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.

Advice: Scherzer restarted a rehab assignment after experiencing a setback late in April. He cruised through 53 pitches (37 strikes), induced 14 whiffs, and registered a fastball velocity of 94.8 mph, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Rotowire.com Today, 6:29 am

    • Cleared to start Tuesday
Maeda (abdomen) is listed as the Tigers' probable pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Nationals at Comerica Park.

Advice: Maeda threw just two pitches before he exited his most recent start last Wednesday against the Rangers due to right abdominal discomfort, resulting in the Tigers going with an impromptu bullpen day featuring five relievers. Fortunately for the veteran right-hander and the Tigers, Maeda appears to have come out of the abbreviated start with little more than mild soreness, and he'll be ready to make his next turn through the rotation on five days' rest. After inking a two-year, $24 million deal this winter, Maeda has gotten off to a rough start to his tenure with the Tigers, logging a 6.25 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 40.1 innings while also spending time on the injured list due to a viral illness. • Credited with Sunday's win
Henry (2-2) picked up Sunday's win, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out one over 2.1 innings against the Padres.

Advice: Henry followed opener Scott McGough and was the pitcher of record when the Diamondbacks scored six times in the second inning. It was a long day for Henry, who was called up from Triple-A Reno late Saturday and flew early Sunday to be in San Diego in time for the game. The left-hander was in Arizona's rotation early this season, and injuries could lead to at least one turn in the coming week. In addition to the injuries, performance may play a role in Henry staying longer. If he pitches well this week, Henry could overtake Slade Cecconi (5.66 ERA), Jordan Montgomery (6.80) or Ryne Nelson (5.96) once the injured starters return. Rotowire.com Today, 5:47 am
