    • Bounces back with win
      Greene (2-2) got the win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five over seven innings.

      Advice: Greene's only blunder of an inning came in the third after allowing the first two guys on before they came around to score on a base knock from Blaze Alexander. He otherwise kept Arizona quiet and put together an excellent rebound outing after some mixed results against them last week. Greene has walked at least a batter in every start this season, but his one free pass was significantly better than the nine he'd given up over his last two starts. The 24-year-old flamethrower now owns a 3.27 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 58:22 K:BB in 52.1 innings and liens up to complete a two-start week against the Dodgers this weekend.     • Eight Ks in no-decision
      Pivetta came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Rays, allowing two runs on four hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight without walking a batter.

      Advice: The right-hander generated an impressive 32 called or swinging strikes among his 81 pitches, but both runs off Pivetta came on solo shots by Josh Lowe and Randy Arozarena, with the latter chasing him from the game one out short of his second quality start of the season. Pivetta has served up five homers in two starts since coming off the IL, a worrisome trend, but he'll carry a 3.48 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 22:2 K:BB through 20.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in St. Louis.     • Hunter Greene goes seven to win in Arizona
      Hunter Greene lasted seven innings and allowed two runs in the Reds’ 6-2 defeat of the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

      Advice: Greene walked nine in his previous two starts, but he issued just one free pass tonight. He also went without giving up a homer, though Corbin Carroll’s shot to right to lead off the bottom of the first would have been a homer had the game been played in Cincinnati, rather than Arizona.     • Nick Pivetta bounces back with solid effort vs TB
      Nick Pivetta allowed two runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rays.

      Advice: Pivetta struck out eight on the day while walking none, but he was doomed by two solo home runs. The right-hander got back on track after his rough return from the IL, posting a 29 percent whiff rate and 40 percent CSW. His sweeper was particularly dominant, getting five whiffs on eight swings and posting a 47 percent CSW. Pivetta also threw his curveball 1.3 mph harder than usual and found some success with it, so that’s something to watch for future starts.     • Allows season-high four runs
      Crawford (2-2) suffered the loss Monday, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings against the Rays. He struck out six.

      Advice: Crawford did not allow a long ball after having allowed one each over his past two starts (none over his first six outings) but did serve up three extra-base hits on his way to allowing four earned runs for the first time this season. A two-out triple in the first inning by Amed Rosario was the biggest blow while a fourth inning double by Jose Caballero set up Tampa's fourth run and ultimately served as the deciding run that sent Crawford to his second defeat. Despite the relatively subpar effort, Crawford maintains a high-quality 2.24 ERA that he'll take into his next start, tentatively slated to take place over the weekend when the Red Sox head to St. Louis for an inter-league matchup against the Cardinals.       Bibee allowed three hits and two walks over 5.1 scoreless innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out four during the win over Texas.

      Advice: Bibee failed to complete six innings for the third consecutive start, but this time it was simply due to a high pitch count. He was tagged with 10 runs in his previous two starts but bounced back with his second scoreless start of the year. Bibee retired the first 11 batters Monday before tailing off a bit near the end of his start, leaving the game after loading the bases in the sixth inning.       Tanner Bibee threw 5 1/3 innings of shutout ball in a no-decision in the Guardians’ 7-0 victory over the Rangers on Monday.

      Advice: Bibee allowed three hits, two walks and struck out four in the contest. Guardians manager Stephen Vogt removed Bibee from the game with the bases loaded in the sixth inning. Reliever Nick Sandlin escaped the jam without any runs scoring, preserving Bibee’s ERA. His ERA is 4.34 on the season. The 25-year-old right-hander is set to face the Twins at home this weekend.       Eflin (3-4) earned the win Monday, allowing three runs on six hits while not walking a batter over five innings against the Red Sox. He struck out two.

      Advice: Eflin was able to grind through five innings, tossing 91 pitches to earn the win for the second-consecutive start. After being staked with a three-run lead before ever taking the hill, Eflin allowed a three-run homer to Tyler O'Neill in the bottom of the first that tied the score. Despite the elevated pitch count through five, Eflin managed to keep the Red Sox off the board throughout the remainder of his start and did not allow a free pass in the process. Eflin will carry a 3.91 ERA and 1.13 WHIP into his next start, tentatively slated to take place over the weekend when the Rays travel to Toronto for a three-game set against the division-rival Blue Jays.       Zach Eflin gave up three runs over five innings on Monday in a win over the Red Sox.

      Advice: Eflin was tagged for a three-run blast by Tyler O’Neill in the opening frame, but managed to settle in afterwards, keeping Boston’s lineup scoreless for the remainder of his abbreviated outing at Fenway Park. He struck out two and didn’t hand out a free pass for the sixth time in his last seven starts. The 30-year-old control artist will bring a respectable 3.91 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 41/4 K/BB ratio across 53 innings (nine starts) into a road matchup on Saturday against the division-rival Blue Jays.
