    • Sean Murphy (oblique) nearing rehab assignment
Sean Murphy (oblique) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week.

Advice: It’s been a very slow and methodical progression for Murphy, who was diagnosed with a Grade 1 oblique strain at the end of March. He should only need a couple of games in the minor leagues before he’s ready to return to the Braves’ lineup. If all goes well, it’s possible that he could be ready to return next weekend. • Retreating to bench
Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Rosario will head to the bench after he had started in each of the previous four games while seeing time at three different spots in the infield (second base, third base and shortstop). Though the right-handed-hitting Rosario should remain a mainstay in the lineup versus lefties, his opportunities to play against right-handed pitching could be more limited moving forward after the Rays activated the lefty-hitting Jonathan Aranda from the injured list Tuesday. • Bryan De La Cruz goes deep, Marlins edge Tigers
Bryan De La Cruz launched a two-run homer on Wednesday, leading the Marlins to a 2-0 victory over the Tigers.

Advice: De La Cruz supplied the lone runs for either side in a low-scoring Wednesday afternoon matinee at Comerica Park courtesy of a gargantuan 422-foot blast to left-center field off Tigers starter Casey Mize in the opening frame. It was his lone hit in four at-bats and his ninth round-tripper of the season. The 27-year-old corner outfielder has put together a nice breakthrough campaign so far for the struggling Marlins, batting .256 (46-for-180) with 25 runs scored, nine homers, 24 RBI and one steal through 45 contests. • CJ Abrams sits against tough lefty
Like the rest of the Nationals’ lefty hitters, CJ Abrams is on the bench for Wednesday’s game against Garrett Crochet and the White Sox.

Advice: It makes for a weird lineup, as Ildemaro Vargas is playing left field and batting third and Rule 5 pick Nasim Nuñez is making just his second start of the year. It’s the first time Abrams has sat since Apr. 8, when he was dealing with hand soreness. Rotoworld Today, 10:16 am

    • Tosses bullpen Monday
Musgrove (elbow) threw a "light" bullpen session Monday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Musgrove completed his first bullpen session since going on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow inflammation in early May. The right-hander is expected to throw another side session Wednesday, and if that goes well, he could return to the Padres rotation without needing a rehab stint. Musgrove is tracking toward making his next start during San Diego's series in Atlanta during the upcoming weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 10:03 am

    • Plates two in win
Gimenez went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Gimenez contributed an RBI single in the second inning and a sacrifice fly in the ninth. He's hit safely in three straight games after going 0-for-15 over the previous four contests. The second baseman is up to a .255/.318/.357 slash line with six steals, two home runs, 23 RBI, 23 runs scored, eight doubles and a triple over 40 contests. While his power is slightly down this year, the rest of his offense is roughly in line with where he was at in 2023. Rotowire.com Today, 10:00 am
    • Getting rare day off
Abrams is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Abrams started in both ends of Tuesday's doubleheader and the White Sox are bringing a lefty (Garrett Crochet) to the hill for Wednesday's series finale, so Nationals manager Dave Martinez likely decided that Abrams could benefit from a game off. With Abrams out of the lineup for the first time since April 8, lightly used Rule 5 pick Nasim Nunez will pick up a rare start at shortstop. Rotowire.com Today, 9:19 am

    • Smacks sixth homer
Joe went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and two runs scored Tuesday against the Brewers.

Advice: Joe returned to the lineup after sitting Monday and has started nine of Pittsburgh's 12 games in May. He's hit .294 with three home runs, seven runs scored and seven RBI in that span, and he lifted his sixth long ball of the season Monday. Joe should continue to get regular run at both first base and in right field as one of the Pirates' more productive hitters. Rotowire.com Today, 7:18 am

    • Snaps power drought Tuesday
Harris went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-0 win over the Cubs.

Advice: The 23-year-old center fielder snapped a 20-game homer drought by taking Jameson Taillon deep in the fourth inning, kicking off a six-run frame that blew the game wide open. Harris is just one of a number of Atlanta hitters who have had sluggish starts to the season -- Tuesday's long ball was his first extra-base hit of any kind since April 26 -- but he may be heating up, as he has five hits and two walks in the last four games, lifting his slash line on the year to .260/.305/.390.
