    • Beginning mound work Wednesday
Phillips (hamstring) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Phillips has been on the injured list with a strained right hamstring since May 5, and he resumed playing catch Friday. He will presumably throw multiple bullpen sessions before progressing to facing live hitters, though he shouldn't take long to build back up as a reliever. Rotowire.com Today, 5:23 pm
    • Evan Phillips to throw bullpen session Wednesday
Evan Phillips (hamstring) is slated to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Advice: It’s the first time throwing off a mound for Phillips since hitting the injured list back in early May with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain. The hope is that the 29-year-old elite stopper won’t need a rehab assignment before returning to Los Angeles’ bullpen. Rotoworld Today, 5:08 pm
    • Takes seventh loss
Stripling (1-7) took the loss against Houston on Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out one batter over five innings.

Advice: Stripling was efficient in the outing, needing just 52 pitches to get through five frames. However, he was pulled before the sixth inning despite the low pitch count and despite retiring the final five batters he faced, and a fourth-inning solo homer he served up to Alex Bregman ended up being the deciding factor in sending him to his MLB-high seventh loss. Stripling at least managed to improve from a horrific outing his previous trip to the mound, when he gave up 11 runs (five earned) over 1.2 innings against Texas. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:15 pm
    • Stripling takes loss Monday
Ross Stripling allowed two earned runs in five innings and took the loss against the Astros on Monday.

Advice: The Astros’ first run was unearned thanks to a throwing error by Athletics first baseman Tyler Soderstrom in the second inning. Stripling allowed an RBI double to Kyle Tucker in the third inning and a solo home run to Alex Bregman in the fourth inning. His ERA sits at 4.98 on the season. Stripling has completed five innings and allowed three earned runs or less in five of his last six starts. The 34-year-old right-hander is set to take on the Royals on the road this weekend.

    • Slams door for save
Helsley struck out two batters in a perfect inning and earned a save over Milwaukee on Sunday.

Advice: Helsley needed only 12 pitches (10 strikes) to quickly close out the 4-3 victory. Since blowing a save in his season debut, he's converted 12 consecutive chances. During that stretch, Helsley has given up just one earned run over 18 frames, lowering his season ERA to 1.42 alongside a 21:2 K:BB. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:51 pm
    • Ryan Helsley perfect in earning 12th save
Ryan Helsley notched his 12th save with a perfect ninth against the Brewers on Sunday.

Advice: Helsey struck out two. He’s been credited with a win or a save in 87.5% of the Cardinals’ 16 victories this season. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:46 pm
    • Raisel Iglesias gives up solo homer vs. Mets
Raisel Iglesias allowed a solo homer while picking up a strikeout in a relief appearance Saturday against the Mets.

Advice: Atlanta didn’t allow a hit over the first 8 2/3 innings, but Iglesias gave up the no-no — and the shutout — by allowing a homer to J.D. Martinez. Iglesias also gave up another hit and a walk, but he was able to escape the jam; although the escape comes without a save since he entered the game with a 4-0 lead. • Evan Phillips (hamstring) plays catch on Friday
Evan Phillips (hamstring) played catch on Friday at Petco Park.

Advice: Phillips is working his way back from a Grade 1 right hamstring strain that he suffered back on May 3. The hope here is that the 29-year-old lights-out stopper will be ready to go when first eligible to return in a few days, but that seems extremely optimistic. There should be some much-needed clarity on his status once he progresses to throwing a bullpen session at some point in the coming days. Rotoworld Saturday, 7:15 am
    • Notches 10th save
Iglesias allowed a run on a hit and a walk in the ninth inning Friday to earn a save against the Mets.

Advice: Iglesias coughed up an RBI single to Pete Alonso with two outs in the ninth but was able to close out the 4-2 victory. The right-hander has converted 10 of his 12 save chances this year while posting a 10:4 K:BB through 15.1 innings. Friday was the first time he'd allowed an earned run since April 24, and he owns a strong 2.25 ERA. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:30 pm
