• Jalen Beeks records sixth career save for Rockies
Despite giving up a homer in two-thirds of an inning, Jalen Beeks picked up his sixth career save Friday against the Pirates.

Advice: The homer was a two-run shot from Oneil Cruz, plating one inherited runner. Beeks got the call tonight because Justin Lawrence is on paternity leave. It’s the fifth straight season in which he’s appeared (he missed 2021 after Tommy John) in which he’s earned a save, but he’s recorded just six total. Rotoworld 55 minutes ago

  • Aaron Civale torched for seven runs in no-decision
Aaron Civale was knocked around in a no-decision against the Mets on Friday evening, giving up seven runs on six hits across his 4 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: Civale punched out five batters on the night while allowing one base on balls. The Mets got to him for three runs in the second inning on a three-run blast off the bat of Brett Baty. He then settled in and was staked to a 9-3 lead heading into the fifth inning. That’s when the wheels came off the tracks. There, he allowed four more runs and was chased from the game, just one out shy of qualifying for a victory. Civale got 11 swings and misses on 77 pitches on the night, registering a strong CSW of 35 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a disappointing 6.14 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 39/10 K/BB ratio (36 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s showdown against the White Sox. Rotoworld Today, 6:40 pm

  • José Quintana gets obliterated in loss to Rays
José Quintana was absolutely obliterated in Friday night’s loss to the Rays, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits in just 2 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: Woof. The 35-year-old left-hander also walked a batter while striking out two in the abbreviated outing. The Rays got to him early and often in this one, pushing three runs across in the second inning and adding five more while chasing Quintana in the third inning. Quintana got eight swings and misses on 65 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 22 percent. He’ll try to pick up the pieces and improve upon his suddenly-grotesque 5.20 ERA and 1.54 WHIP when he takes on the Cardinals in St. Louis on Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 6:40 pm
  • Bobby Miller (shoulder) throws bullpen on Friday
Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw a successful bullpen session on Friday.

Advice: The 25-year-old hurler will likely repeat the process another time or two before facing live hitters, but he’s trending in the right direction. Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts noted that Miller should be able to ramp up quickly once he’s ready to face live hitters, so take that for what it’s worth. Rotoworld Today, 5:11 pm

  • Throws off mound
Miller (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Miller has been on the injured list since April 13 due to inflammation in his right shoulder, and Friday marked his first time throwing off a mound since then. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he isn't sure how many more bullpen sessions Miller will need to throw before he progresses to facing live hitters, so the 25-year-old righty will likely remain without a clear return timeline until he gets to that point. • Lands on 15-day IL
The Marlins placed Hoeing (hamstring) on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to May 2.

Advice: Hoeing was off to a hot start to the season with a 1.83 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB over 19.2 innings. It's unclear whether his left hamstring strain will keep him on the shelf beyond his return date of May 17. The Marlins recalled right-hander Darren McCaughan from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 4:44 pm

  • Marlins place Bryan Hoeing on 15-day IL
Marlins placed RHP Bryan Hoeing on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 2, with a left hamstring strain.

Advice: No word from the Marlins yet on how severe the strain is or how long Hoeing may be shelved for. Darren McCaughan was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move to take his place in the Marlins’ bullpen. Rotoworld Today, 4:30 pm

  • Throws BP session
Kershaw (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Kershaw has been limited to throwing from flat ground, and Friday was the first time he's thrown off the mound since undergoing offseason shoulder surgery. The veteran southpaw threw 15 pitches ahead of Friday's game against Atlanta, and manager Dave Roberts said Kershaw "came out well" from the bullpen session, per J.P. Hoornstra of Dodgers Nation. Kershaw is not expected to return until after the All-Star break, but it's another positive step in his rehab program. Rotowire.com Today, 4:25 pm

  • Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) throws first bullpen
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) threw his first bullpen session on Friday since undergoing surgery on his left shoulder.

Advice: The 36-year-old southpaw looks to be right on schedule in his recovery. The Dodgers have yet to give any sort of concrete timeline on when they anticipate him being ready to join the rotation, though the early estimates were at some point around the All-Star break. As long as he continues to progress, there’s no reason to doubt that timeline. Rotoworld Today, 4:24 pm
