    • Ronel Blanco receives 10-game suspension
Ronel Blanco was given a 10-game suspension after umpires detected a foreign substance on his glove during a check after the third inning on Tuesday.

Advice: As anticipated, the 30-year-old hurler plans to appeal the suspension. That appeal should be heard relatively quickly, so expect a decision to come down perhaps before the end of the week. Regardless, fantasy managers should have a contingency plan in place for next week. Rotoworld 12 minutes ago

    • Jordan Romano gives up walkoff homer to Orioles
Jordan Romano took his first blown save and loss after giving up a two-run homer to the Orioles on Wednesday.

Advice: Romano has been somewhat shaky since returning from elbow inflammation, but that he gave up a 347-foot homer to Adley Rutschman today doesn’t mean a whole lot. He should still be safe in the closer’s role, even if the Blue Jays presumably have more faith in Yimi García at the moment. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago
    • Tanner Scott escapes Wednesday with fifth save
Tanner Scott navigated a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday against the Tigers to record his fifth save of the season.

    • Martín Pérez allows five homers in loss to Brewers
Martín Pérez was torched for nine runs over five innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Yikes. Pérez put together one of the worst outings of his extensive big-league career on Wednesday afternoon in Milwaukee, matching a career-high in terms of runs allowed, while also setting a new career-high mark by allowing five home runs. The 33-year-old left-hander’s ERA skyrocketed from 3.60 entering this one to a bloated 4.86 mark in the process. He’ll attempt to rebound on Tuesday when he faces the injury-depleted Giants at home. • Goes on IL with rotator cuff injury
The Athletics placed Wood (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with left rotator cuff tendinitis.

Advice: The transaction is retroactive to Monday, so Wood will be eligible to come off the IL as soon as May 28. Given Wood's long track record of injuries and history as a slow healer, however, fantasy managers who have been rostering the veteran southpaw should probably prepare for him to miss more than the minimum 15 days. Wood's shoulder issue had been bothering him during his most recent start this past Sunday in Seattle, prompting the Athletics to pull him after just two innings while his fastball velocity was down about two ticks from his season-long average. The Athletics haven't named an immediate replacement in the rotation for Wood, but Kyle Muller tossed four innings in relief of the lefty last Sunday and could be stretched out enough to step into the vacant starting role this weekend in Kansas City. • Moves up from Triple-A
The Athletics recalled Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Advice: Harris was optioned to Las Vegas just one week earlier, but he'll be eligible to rejoin Oakland since he'll be taking the active roster spot of Alex Wood (shoulder), who was placed on the 15-day injured list. Wood's injury will create an opening in the rotation this weekend in Kansas City, and if Harris isn't used in relief Wednesday or Thursday in Houston, he could be a candidate to fill the void. Harris has started in all seven of his appearances for Las Vegas this season, logging a 7.56 ERA and 1.92 WHIP over 25 innings in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. • Athletics recall LHP Hogan Harris from Triple-A
Athletics recalled LHP Hogan Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Harris has made one appearance for the A’s this season, giving up four runs in 5 1/3 innings of relief. He could make starts with Oakland’s rotation in pieces, but he doesn’t seem like a strong candidate after amassing a 7.56 ERA and walking 23 in 25 innings for Las Vegas. • A’s place Alex Wood on IL due to rotator cuff
Athletics placed LHP Alex Wood on the 15-day injured list with left rotator cuff tendinitis.

Advice: With Wood joining Joy Boyle and Paul Blackburn on the IL, the A’s have lost 60% of their rotation this month. Aaron Brooks is starting for the A’s today. Osvaldo Bido might come up in Wood’s place later this week. Rotoworld 54 minutes ago

    • Dominates again Tuesday
Miller, who'd pitched just once in the previous 11 games entering Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Astros, threw 14 fastballs of at least 100.5 mph on his 29 pitches during his two scoreless innings, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Miller's arm was clearly fresh, and manager Mark Kotsay deployed his closer for multiple innings in the tie game as a result. Miller rewarded him by recording five strikeouts -- including of the noteworthy trio of Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez and Jeremy Pena -- over his 29 pitches. The elite velocity helped Miller to his 13th straight scoreless outing and extended his career-high scoreless streak to 17.1 innings. The improved but still inconsistent Athletics have afforded Miller just eight save chances among his 14 appearances, but he's converted each and now boasts a minuscule 0.98 ERA and 0.65 WHIP alongside a 38:5 K:BB across 18.1 innings.
