• Heads back to minors
The Blue Jays optioned Little to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.

Advice: He'll cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to right-hander Alek Manoah (shoulder), who was activated from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday versus the Nationals. After being called up from Triple-A on April 25, Little made three appearances out of the Toronto bullpen, giving up four earned runs over 3.1 innings. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago
  • Activated ahead of 2024 debut
The Blue Jays reinstated Manoah (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday versus the Nationals in Washington.

Advice: Manoah will be making his 2024 season debut for the Blue Jays after he opened the campaign on the shelf with right shoulder inflammation before completing a five-start minor-league rehab assignment between stops at Single-A Dunedin and Triple-A Buffalo. The right-hander was far from sharp over the course of the minor-league assignment -- he posted an 8.69 ERA, 1.98 WHIP and 28:11 K:BB across 19.2 frames -- but he finished off his stint at Buffalo in dominant fashion, tossing six innings of one-run ball while striking out 12 and issuing just two walks this past Tuesday. The Blue Jays are hopeful that Manoah can eventually regain the form that made him a third-place finisher in the 2022 American League Cy Young Award balloting, but his fantasy managers may want to tread carefully before activating him. Much like the entirety of his rehab assignment prior to Tuesday, Manoah struggled mightily with his command and control during his time with the Blue Jays and various minor-league affiliates in a disastrous 2023 season. • Blue Jays option Brendon Little to Buffalo
Blue Jays optioned LHP Brendon Little to Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: Little is pushed off the roster with Alek Manoah coming off the injured list for his season debut. The 27-year-old will likely get another chance to help the Toronto bullpen at some point this summer. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago
  • Alek Manoah (shoulder) off IL for Sunday start
Blue Jays activated Alek Manoah off the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Manoah comes off the injured list to make his season debut against the Nationals on Sunday. The right-hander had mixed results in his rehab appearances, but he was excellent Tuesday with 12 strikeouts over six innings in his finale. Manoah was one of the worst fantasy options in baseball last year, but isn’t far removed from being one of the best. Simply put, there’s as much risk — if not more — as there is reward with Manoah’s profile. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago
  • Whitlock (oblique) ‘feels good’ after bullpen
Garrett Whitlock told reporters Sunday that he felt good after his bullpen session Saturday.

Advice: Whitlock will now take at least a couple days off before his next bullpen session, which has yet to be scheduled. The right-hander will likely need to make one or two more before a potential rehab assignment. There’s still no clear timetable as to when any of this can happen, however. • Sent back to Triple-A
The Royals optioned Selby to Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.

Advice: After being acquired from the Pirates on April 7, Selby was summoned from Triple-A on Tuesday and was able to make his Royals debut during his brief stint with the big club. He made two appearances out of the Kansas City bullpen, giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks over three innings in back-to-back appearances versus the Rangers on Friday and Saturday. • Takes extra-inning loss
Fernandez (0-1) allowed an unearned run on two hits in one inning, taking the extra-inning loss versus the White Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Fernandez gave up an RBI single to Tommy Pham, and that ended up being the difference in Saturday's contest. Over his last five outings, Fernandez has covered 6.2 innings and allowed two runs (one earned) with a 9:2 K:BB. He's been used as a low-leverage reliever so far, but the rookie right-hander has been solid with a 2.70 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 17:5 K:BB over 13.1 innings in that role. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago
  • Zack Thompson could be option for Cards on Friday
Cardinals manager Oli Marmol told reporters that Zack Thompson could be an option for St. Louis on Friday against the Brewers.

Advice: Marmol told reporters that Thompson was not in consideration for Sunday’s start as they want the 26-year-old to continue to work on things. Matthew Liberatore is getting the start Sunday, but depending on how things go, St. Louis may not have a choice but to go with Thompson over the weekend. Rotoworld 43 minutes ago

  • Javier (neck) could rejoin Astros during road trip
Cristian Javier (neck) could rejoin the Astros rotation during their upcoming road trip.

Advice: Javier didn’t pitch particularly well Saturday during his rehab start with Double-A Corpus Christi, but the three runs allowed over 3 1/3 innings aren’t what’s important. What does matter is that Javier felt good after the start, and he was able to throw 68 pitches. The Astros really need the rotation help right now, and while they won’t rush Javier back, the chance for a return in the next week or so looks promising. Rotoworld 55 minutes ago
