• Bailey Falter surrenders three runs in defeat
Bailey Falter lost to the Cardinals after allowing three runs in four innings Wednesday.

Advice: Falter was singled to death tonight, surrendering seven of them and one double despite allowing only four hard-hit balls. He also struck out five and walked one. Obviously, it just wasn’t his night, but he still seems like a better bet than usual with his velocity up some this year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:20 pm
  • Jonathan Cannon allows one run in no-decision
Jonathan Cannon allowed one run with seven strikeouts over seven innings in a no-decision against the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Cannon put together his best start of the season. He had tossed six scoreless innings, scattering three hits and one walk before Luke Raley took him deep to break the tie game in the seventh. Cannon finished out the seventh, striking out seven batters on the day. The 23-year-old right-hander will take a 4.56 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and a 24/5 K/BB ratio across 23 2/3 innings into a start against the Astros in Chicago on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm
  • Pitches well enough to win
Peterson (2-0) earned the win over Miami on Wednesday, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out one batter over five innings.

Advice: Peterson wasn't exactly impressive in the outing -- he induced only two swinging strikes and walked more batters (two) than he struck out (one) -- but he survived just long enough to pick up his second straight victory. The four runs were a season-high mark for the southpaw, who has made only three starts thus far after beginning the season on the injured list due to a hip injury. Peterson's 4.32 ERA through 16.2 innings may be good enough to help him maintain a spot in the rotation, though his 6:5 K:BB doesn't bode well for his fantasy appeal. • Struggles early in no-decision
Pivetta did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Phillies, allowing four runs on six hits and four walks with four strikeouts over four innings.

Advice: It was a rough night from the start, as Pivetta allowed the first three batters he faced to reach base and surrendered two runs in each of the first and third innings. The four walks were a season high, and he allowed at least one baserunner in every inning. Pivetta has been inconsistent this season, with six starts of two or fewer earned runs and three starts yielding five. On the season, Pivetta owns a 3.88 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 55:13 K:BB in nine starts and lines up against the Blue Jays next Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:59 pm

  • Unravels in no-decision
Sanchez did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 8-6 loss to the Red Sox, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts over four innings.

Advice: Sanchez opened with three scoreless frames before allowing a run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth then surrendered three straight hits to open the fifth and was pulled at just 67 pitches. All three inherited runners came around to score, marking the first time since April 29 that Sanchez yielded four runs or more in a start. On the season, Sanchez now owns a 3.07 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 61:23 K:BB through 13 starts and lines up against the Padres next Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:57 pm
  • Nick Pivetta yanked after four versus former team
Nick Pivetta surrendered four runs in four innings Wednesday in a no-decision versus the Phillies.

Advice: Pivetta walked four tonight. He’s issued 11 free passes in his last four starts after totaling two in his first five. Pivetta also struck out four tonight. Oddly enough, his nine starts this season have seen him strike out at least eight on five occasions and no more than four the rest of the time. He’s 3-4 with a 3.88 ERA. • Cristopher Sánchez pulled in fifth versus Boston
Cristopher Sánchez was charged with four runs in four-plus innings Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Advice: It was one run through four, but the Red Sox opened up the fifth with three straight singles, only one of them hard hit, and the decision was made to pull Sánchez. There’s a good argument that Sánchez deserves better at this point — he entered the game with a 2.71 ERA, and he had thrown just 67 pitches tonight — but the Phillies wanted to be aggressive with their bullpen usage tonight. It just didn’t work out, in part because the team declined to use its best relievers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:37 pm
  • Falls to Giants
Valdez (5-4) took the loss Wednesday against San Francisco, allowing five runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out one.

Advice: It was a tough day for Valdez, who allowed two runs in the third inning before the Giants scored three more in the fourth. The 30-year-old Valdez had allowed just five runs in three starts (22 innings) coming into Wednesday's matchup. The left-hander now sports a 3.99 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP and 51:19 K:BB across 67.2 innings this year. Valdez will look to rebound in his next outing, currently scheduled for early next week on the road versus the White Sox. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:21 pm
  • Earns sixth win
Webb (6-5) picked up the win Wednesday against the Astros, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out five over six innings.

Advice: Webb held Houston to one run through his first five innings before giving up a two-run homer to Yordan Alvarez in the sixth. However, the Giants would hang on for a 5-3 victory while Webb logged his sixth quality start in his last seven outings. Overall, the right-hander sports a 3.02 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP and 78:20 K:BB across 92.1 innings this year. Webb's currently slated for a road. matchup with the Cubs early next week in his next start.
