• Removed with groin injury
Grandal was removed from Tuesday's game against the Giants due to left groin discomfort, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Grandal doubled and came around to score during Pittsburgh's ninth-inning rally, but he was unable to come out to catch the top of the 10th frame. The severity of his injury isn't immediately apparent, but the Pirates should have more information on the veteran backstop's injury before the start of Wednesday's game. • Yasmani Grandal leaves game with groin discomfort
Yasmani Grandal was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Giants with left groin discomfort.

Advice: Let’s check in on Henry Davis, folks. Grandal could wind up hitting the injured list in the coming days, if the issue winds up being serious. There should be an update on his status at some point prior to Wednesday’s contest. Rotoworld 44 minutes ago

  • Sean Murphy (oblique) homers in rehab contest
Sean Murphy (oblique) homered on Tuesday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Gwinnett.

Advice: Murphy caught seven innings behind the plate and also threw out a runner attempting to steal second base in this one. The 29-year-old backstop looked ready to return to the majors in this one, but he’ll presumably get at least a couple more contests under his belt before heading back to Atlanta. • Back from injured list
The Giants reinstated Bailey from the 7-day concussion injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Bailey was cleared to return to the field Tuesday, so the Giants will waste no time bringing back their catcher who has slashed .280/.340/.451 through 95 plate appearances this season. Curt Casali will be the one starting behind the plate Tuesday against Martin Perez and the Pirates, but Bailey is sure to return to the lineup sooner rather than later. Blake Sabol was optioned to Double-A Richmond in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 3:34 pm
  • Sent down to Double-A
Sabol was optioned to Double-A Richmond on Tuesday.

Advice: With Sabol not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Pirates, it seemed to be due to a lefty being on the mound. Now it is apparent there was more to that with the catcher being optioned all the way down to Double-A Richmond. This comes with Patrick Bailey (concussion) being reinstated from the injured list and Ryan McKenna being added to the 26-man roster. Sabol was getting steady playing time with injuries to Bailey and Tom Murphy (knee). The 26-Year-Old had an OPS just under .800 and will now return to Double-A for the first time since 2022. • Giants activate Patrick Bailey on Tuesday
Giants activated C Patrick Bailey from the 7-day concussion injured list.

Advice: Bailey rejoins San Francisco’s active roster literally minutes prior to first pitch on Tuesday night against the Pirates. The 24-year-old backstop resumed baseball activities last weekend after being evaluated by a concussion specialist and should take over the catching duties for the Giants in short order. • Giants option Blake Sabol back to Triple-A
Giants optioned C/OF Blake Sabol to Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Sabol heads out with Patrick Bailey returning from the concussion injured list just prior to Tuesday’s game against the Pirates. Rotoworld Today, 3:20 pm

  • Elias Díaz returns to lineup Tuesday vs. A’s
Elias Díaz (hand) is back in the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Athletics.

Advice: Díaz is back handling the catching duties for Colorado in Oakland following a four-game absence due to left hand soreness. The 33-year-old backstop was battling the ongoing issue for a couple weeks, so the hope here is that the extended layoff helps put the issue behind him. Rotoworld Today, 2:57 pm
  • Returns to lineup
Diaz (hand) is in the Rockies' lineup Tuesday versus the Athletics.

Advice: Diaz missed four consecutive games for the Rockies due to a hand injury, and he had an additional day to recover with the team day off Monday. Jacob Stallings was starting in his place, but the former will return to the bench Tuesday. Rotowire.com Today, 2:33 pm
