• Starling Marte tossed for arguing third strike
Starling Marte was ejected from Monday’s game in the fourth inning for arguing balls and strikes.

Advice: Marte couldn’t let it go after being (correctly) called out to end the top of the fourth and was tossed as he was beginning to walk out to right field for the bottom of the inning. Tyrone Taylor replaced him versus the Guardians. Rotoworld 10 minutes ago
  • Andrew Benintendi goes hitless in loss to Jays
After taking a seat Sunday, Andrew Benintendi went 0-for-4 as the White Sox’s No. 5 hitter Monday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Benintendi really set the tone for the day when he went out of the strike zone and tapped into a double play on a 1-0 pitch from Jose Berríos in the second inning. The White Sox collectively went 4-for-5 against Berríos that inning, yet they wound up with only one run. Benintendi also made a half-hearted slide attempt at a flyball in the second to give Bo Bichette a double and, later in the game, allowed Bichette to tag up and go from second to third without a throw on a 320-foot fly to left-center. At this point, Benintendi belongs on the injured list or in the minors. The White Sox will keep playing him, though. Rotoworld 40 minutes ago
  • Brewers bring back Joey Wiemer from injured list
Brewers activated OF Joey Wiemer from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Wiemer missed 16 days with left knee soreness. The Brewers could have just sent him down, as he wasn’t playing well before getting hurt, but they’ve instead decided to go with him over Chris Roller. He’ll likely play against lefties and come off the bench versus righties. He’s starting in center field and batting ninth tonight against Ryan Weathers. Rotoworld Today, 3:03 pm

  • Brewers option OF Chris Roller to Triple-A
Brewers optioned OF Chris Roller to Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: So much for Roller getting any sort of look. He struck out in his lone at-bat during his five days with the Brewers. Rotoworld Today, 3:03 pm

  • On bench for Game 2
Merrill is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader in Atlanta.

Advice: Merrill started in center field in Game 1 and went 1-for-4 with two RBI, as he brought home San Diego's first two runs on a groundout and a single. Jose Azocar will take over in center field for the nightcap. Rotowire.com Today, 2:43 pm

  • Won't be activated Monday
Astros manager Joe Espada said that McCormick (hamstring) will not be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Monday's game versus the Angels, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: However, McCormick is with the Astros at Minute Maid Park and will go through a pregame workout. His activation will come "soon," per Espada, with Tuesday seeming like a distinct possibility. McCormick has been out for all of May with a right hamstring injury. Rotowire.com Today, 2:20 pm

Sam Haggerty is out for the year after suffering a ruptured Achilles in a Triple-A game.

Advice: Haggerty was hurt Saturday while trying to make a catch in center and planting his foot in the padded wall. The utilityman had been demoted from the majors just three days earlier. He’s a lifetime .232/.312/.351 hitter in parts of six seasons in the majors. Rotoworld Today, 1:56 pm

  • Out with torn Achilles
Haggerty was diagnosed with a torn Achilles on Monday and will miss the rest of the 2024 season, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. He was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday.

Advice: The 29-year-old was optioned to Tacoma last week but suffered the injury over the weekend in just his second game back with the affiliate. Haggerty went 1-for-15 during a brief run in the big leagues this season and will likely be sidelined for the start of the 2025 campaign. Rotowire.com Today, 1:41 pm

  • Could be activated Friday
Thomas (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Harrisburg on Tuesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Thomas is set to play Tuesday and Wednesday before being reevaluated. Assuming all goes well, it would set him up to be activated ahead of the Nationals' weekend series against the Mariners. Thomas has missed nearly a month of action with a Grade 2 MCL sprain of his left knee. Rotowire.com Today, 1:18 pm
