  • Logan Webb hit hard in loss to Phillies on Sunday
    Logan Webb wasn’t at his best in Sunday night’s loss to the Phillies, giving up five runs (four earned) on six hits in his four innings of work.

    Advice: The 27-year-old right-hander punched out six batters on the night while issuing a pair of walks. The Phillies scratched out a run against him in the second inning, then tacked on three more in the third including a two-run blast off the bat of Bryce Harper. Webb needed 98 pitches (59 strikes) to labor through 12 outs in this one, getting 10 swings and misses and posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll look to bounce back and improve upon his 3.50 ERA and 1.36 WHIP when he does battle against the Reds at home on Friday night. Rotoworld Today, 7:11 pm
     
  • Tosses scoreless frame
    Jansen pitched one scoreless inning, allowing one hit in Sunday's 9-2 win over the Twins.

    Advice: Jansen was locked into appearing in Sunday's contest no matter what and he worked around an error by his defense and a single for a scoreless ninth inning. The 36-year-old is firmly locked into being Boston's closer in 2024, posting a 1.69 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 14 strikeouts over 10.2 innings in 11 appearances while going 5-for-6 on save opportunities so far.   • Ryne Nelson inconsistent in first start off IL
    Ryne Nelson allowed four runs on eight hits in five innings in a win over the Padres on Sunday.

    Advice: It wasn’t a great start for Nelson, who posted a 15 percent whiff rate and 26 percent CSW. He got a lot of called strikes on his four-seam fastball, but the whiffs up in the zone were carrying him before the trip to the IL, and they just weren’t there on Sunday. There is certainly some upside in Nelson, but he has a 5.23 ERA on the season and should not be started against the Orioles next week. Rotoworld Today, 6:29 pm
     
  • Matt Waldron lit up in loss to Diamondbacks
    Matt Waldron allowed eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits in three innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks.

    Advice: It was a rough day at the office for Waldron, who walked three and struck out two. He had a 15 percent whiff rate and 28 percent CSW and allowed four extra-base hits and six hard-hit balls in just three innings.   • Limits damage against Mariners
    Brown didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Seattle, allowing two runs on five hits with four walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out five.

    Advice: Despite tying his season high in walks, Brown only allowed a pair of runners to score and held the Mariners to just one extra-base hit. Brown has lasted less than five innings in five of his seven starts this season and owns an ugly 8.89 ERA through 27.1 innings. With Cristian Javier (neck) set to return in the next week or so, Brown's time in the rotation could be coming to a close. However, Houston could drop rookie Spencer Arrighetti instead.   • Nick Lodolo struggles in start vs Orioles
    Nick Lodolo allowed four runs on four hits in five innings in a loss to the Orioles on Sunday.

    Advice: It wasn’t all bad for Lodolo, who struck out six and walked two while posting a 30 percent whiff rate and 31 percent CSW. Lodolo struggled out of the gates, allowing three runs on three hits in the first inning before settling down.   • Falls apart late
    Miller didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Astros, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk across six innings. He struck out three.

    Advice: Miller kept a clean sheet through five innings before surrendering a two-run home run to Kyle Tucker in the sixth and a two-run shot to Jon Singleton in the seventh -- a long ball that got Miller pulled. The outing marked Miller's third time allowing multiple homers this season and his three strikeouts were a season low. Through 41.1 innings, Miller owns a 2.61 ERA and a 42:13 K:BB.   • Dean Kremer dominates Reds on Sunday
    Dean Kremer threw six shutout innings against the Reds on Sunday, allowing one hit while striking out six.

    Advice: It was a masterful performance. Kremer posted a 33 percent CSW and 37 percent whiff rate, highlighted by seven whiffs on 13 swings on his four-seam fastball. Kremer leaned heavily on the cutter on Sunday and danced around the zone, throwing less than 50 percent of pitches in the strike zone, but he got the Reds to chase. Kremer now has a 3.57 ERA on the year and can certainly be started next week against the Diamondbacks. Rotoworld Today, 5:43 pm
     
  • Sixto Sánchez is inconsisent in start
    Sixto Sánchez allowed two runs on three hits in four innings in a no-decision against the A’s.

    Advice: Sánchez also walked three and struck out two. Somehow, he was the better of the two starters on the night. He had just a 17 percent whiff rate and his four-seam fastball velocity was down two mph from his previous outing. Sánchez has a 7.50 ERA and should not be on fantasy rosters, especially since he is likely losing his spot in the Marlins rotation. Rotoworld Today, 4:52 pm
