    • Clay Holmes locks down five-out save against O’s
Clay Holmes slammed the door on the Orioles on Wednesday night, getting the final five outs to preserve a two-run advantage.

Advice: Holmes was called upon with two men on and one out in the eighth inning, and he quelled that threat by striking out Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman in succession to end the inning. He returned for the ninth where he allowed a leadoff single to Ryan O’Hearn and nothing more. The 31-year-old right-hander has been unbelievable so far this season, hurling 15 innings of scoreless baseball with a 16/1 K/BB ratio while converting 10 of his first 11 save chances. Studly. • Escapes with save
Doval allowed a run on two hits and a walk in one inning of work Sunday. He did not record a strikeout but picked up a save against the Pirates.

Advice: Doval retired the first two batters he faced before letting three straight Pirates reach base. He then forced Joey Bart into a game-ending groundout to finish off the 3-2 win. Doval has converted all five of his save chances while registering a 3.38 ERA through 10.2 frames. Sunday was his first save since April 23 against the Mets. Rotowire.com Sunday, 3:57 pm

    • Records second win
Doval (2-0) allowed two hits and a walk while striking out one over a scoreless inning to earn the win Friday over the Pirates.

Advice: Doval walked the tightrope in the top of the ninth inning Friday, loading the bases with one out before inducing a double play to escape the jam while keeping the game scoreless. Patrick Bailey then delivered a walk-off three-run home run to give Doval and the Giants the win. Doval has kept runs off the board in seven of his nine appearances this season, earning four saves with a 3.12 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 13:5 K:BB over 8.2 innings. Rotowire.com Saturday, 10:01 am

    • Secures ninth save
Holmes struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his ninth save of the season in a 4-3 win over the A's.

Advice: The right-hander needed only nine pitches (seven strikes) to carve up the bottom of the Oakland order. Holmes has been brilliant to begin the season, converting nine of 10 save chances with a 0.00 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 10:1 K:BB through 12 innings, and he sits one ahead of the Padres' Robert Suarez for the MLB saves lead. • Earns quick save
Doval retired both batters he faced with one strikeout to earn the save in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Mets.

Advice: Doval entered the game with runners on the corners and one out after Tyler Rogers allowed a double and two singles before being replaced. Doval made easy work of both hitters he faced, getting Joey Wendle to strike out before inducing a one-pitch groundout to end the game. The 26-year-old closer has converted all four of his save opportunities thus far and owns a 3.52 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB in 7.2 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:49 am

    • Holmes gets league-leading 9th save
Clay Holmes threw a scoreless ninth inning to secure the Yankees’ 4-3 win over the A’s on Tuesday.

Advice: Holmes threw a perfect inning, striking out two and not allowing a single baserunner. He has yet to allow an earned run on the season and is tied for the MLB-lead with nine saves. Any questions people had early last season about his ability to hold down the closer’s job should be long in the rearview mirror. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:19 pm
