    • Swats three-run homer
Sosa went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run during Wednesday's 11-4 win over the Rangers.

Advice: The shortstop tagged Jonathan Hernandez for a round-tripper in the fourth inning, plating Nick Castellanos and Brandon Marsh. The long ball was Sosa's second of the campaign and his first in 51 at-bats, dating back to April 7. Since Trea Turner (hamstring) was placed on the injured list May 4, Sosa is 11-for-37 (.297) with 12 runs and nine RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:33 pm

    • Launches first career homer
Paris went 1-for-2 with a walk and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Astros.

Advice: The 22-year-old gave the Angels all the offense they would need on the afternoon when he took Hunter Brown deep in the fifth inning. It was Paris' first career big-league homer in his 26th game, and while power isn't a big part of his game, he did slug 14 home runs in 113 contests for Double-A Rocket City in 2023. Paris got the start at second base Wednesday but slid over to shortstop, and he could be looking at a longer run at the latter position if Zach Neto (elbow) winds up missing significant time. • Set for tests on elbow
Neto will undergo further testing on his right elbow in Los Angeles after exiting in the bottom of the fifth inning of Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Astros, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Neto went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before he was lifted in the bottom of the fifth inning shortly after he made a high throw from shortstop. The Angels labeled his injury as right elbow soreness, but more clarity on the severity of the injury should be known once his tests are completed. For what it's worth, Neto said the Angels' training staff told him that his injury doesn't appear to be serious. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:53 pm

    • Masyn Winn slugs solo homer in Cardinals’ win
Masyn Winn went 2-for-4 with a solo homer on Wednesday, lifting the Cardinals to a 5-4 victory over the Orioles.

Advice: Winn helped the Cardinals emerge victorious in a battle of the birds at rain-soaked Busch Stadium, supplying a pivotal insurance run with a seventh-inning homer off Orioles reliever Cole Irvin. It was his second round-tripper of the season and second time he’s gone deep in his last five contests. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:51 pm
    • Filling in for injured Riley
Short will start at third base and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: Short will draw a ninth consecutive start at the hot corner while Austin Riley (side) remains day-to-day. The 28-year-old has delivered a solid .345 on-base percentage over his prior eight starts, but he's provided little fantasy value with a .208 average, zero home runs or stolen bases and two RBI and runs during that stretch. He'll fall back into a light role once Riley is cleared to return to the lineup. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:41 pm

    • Kyren Paris hits first major league home run
Kyren Paris hit his first major league homer Wednesday off the Astros’ Hunter Brown.

Advice: Before his 408-foot shot today, Paris had been just 7-for-67 with one extra-base hit since debuting late last season. He’s in the majors now despite having opened this year 7-for-77 with no homers and 36 strikeouts in Double-A. There’s some hope here for the future, but he will return to the minors once the Angels get healthier. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:23 pm

    • Out indefinitely with broken shoulder
The Padres placed Bogaerts on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a fractured left shoulder.

Advice: Bogaerts suffered the injury on an awkward dive Monday in Atlanta. According to Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune, the infielder doesn't appear to be dealing with any damage to his labrum and will avoid surgery, but he'll need significant down time for the shoulder to heal. Bogaerts intends to play again this season, perhaps by the latter part of the summer. With Bogaerts out indefinitely, Luis Arraez is likely to move off designated hitter and see more consistent playing time at second base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:32 pm

    • Losing out on playing time
Duran is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: Duran is on the bench for the third time in four games and looks set to fill more of a part-time role moving forward now that Evan Carter is healthy again after a back injury recently kept him out of the lineup for more than a week. The Rangers still have an opening in the lineup at designated hitter while Wyatt Langford (hamstring) is on the shelf, but manager Bruce Bochy appears content to rotate a number of different players at that spot. • Bogaerts out two months with fractured shoulder
Padres placed INF Xander Bogaerts on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left shoulder.

Advice: Ouch. Bogaerts sustained the injury while diving for a ball during the first game of Monday’s doubleheader. He’s expected to miss at least two months while recovering from the injuy. Luis Arraez is covering second base on Wednesday and will probably see additional action there while Bogaerts is shelved. David Peralta was promoted from Triple-A El Paso to take his place on the Padres’ active roster on Wednesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:18 pm
