      Adley Rutschman went 2-for-5 with 3 RBI against the White Sox on Thursday.



      Advice: Rutschman had an RBI single in the third inning to tie the game and a two-run single in the sixth inning to put the Orioles up 7-2. He’s putting together another nice season with a .299 average and 31 RBI on the year.

    • Rodriguez gets fifth win Thursday
      Grayson Rodriguez allowed two runs in five innings and picked up the win in the Orioles’ 8-6 win over the White Sox on Thursday.



      Advice: Rodriguez was a bit of a mixed bag in his second start since coming off the injured list. The win was his fifth of the season. Rodriguez struck out seven, but also allowed three hits and walked five. His ERA is 3.20 on the season now. The 24-year-old right-hander is scheduled to face the Red Sox at home next week.

    • Nick Castellanos homers as Phillies top Rangers
      Nick Castellanos went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in a 5-2 win for the Phillies on Thursday over the Rangers.

      Advice: Castellanos extended the Phillies’ lead to 5-2 with a solo blast in the seventh inning. The veteran outfielder has been able to provide five homers thus far in 2024, and the pair of hits see his average increase to a still-disappointing .206 mark.     • TJ Friedl hopes to take batting practice soon
      According to The Enquirer’s Charlie Goldsmith, TJ Friedl (broken thumb) “continues to progress” and hopes to take “batting practice soon.”

      Advice: TJ Friedl is back to hitting off flips as he works back from a broken thumb. Once he is able to take batting practice, his next step will likely be live at-bats and a rehab assignment. It’s possible that he could be back around mid-June but it will depend on how his thumb feels while taking live swings. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:15 am

    • Hitting flipped pitches
      Friedl (thumb) has progressed to hitting flipped balls in the batting cage and hopes to be cleared to take batting practice soon, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

      Advice: Friedl is making a rapid recovery from a fractured left thumb, an injury he suffered just 11 days ago. If the outfielder is able to take batting practice soon, a brief rehab assignment should follow shortly after. He would appear on track for an early June return from the 10-day injured list.     • Julio Rodríguez batting 6th for Mariners on Thursday
      Julio Rodríguez has been moved down to sixth in the order for Thursday’s game against the Yankees.

      Advice: Rodríguez hasn’t gotten off to the hot start many expected, but the move is a bit curious considering his average is up to .272 in May and his strikeout rate is down to 22 percent. The power has certainly not come, as he has just one home run in 20 games in May; however, he also has just one home run this season on 16 pulled flyballs and line drives so it feels like he’s been a bit unlucky in that regard.       Rodriguez will start in center field and bat sixth in Thursday's contest versus the Yankees.

      Advice: For the first time this season, Rodriguez won't be batting either first or second for Seattle. Rodriguez is hitting .325/.357/.425 over his last 10 games but has gone just 1-for-12 at the dish in the first three games of the series against the Yankees.       Bichette went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the White Sox.

      Advice: Bichette's power has been largely absent this season -- this was just his third homer of the season through 45 contests. Two of them have come over the last 10 games, a span in which he's hitting .351 (13-for-37) with seven RBI and four doubles. The shortstop is slashing a middling .233/.289/.349 with 19 RBI, 15 runs scored, four stolen bases, nine doubles and a triple through 187 plate appearances, though he's starting to turn things around.
