      The Mets activated Diaz from his 10-game suspension Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

      Advice: Diaz was dealt an automatic 10-game suspension June 24 for the use of an illegal substance on the mound, and he'll now reclaim his usual role as New York's closer. The 30-year-old has been met with struggles this season, putting up a 4.70 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 23 innings, but his return will still provide a much-needed boost to the Mets' bullpen, which posted an 8.37 ERA while Diaz was suspended.       David Bednar (oblique) is scheduled to face hitters on Saturday in a live batting practice session.

      Advice: Bednar resumed playing catch earlier this week and continues to progress towards a return to Pittsburgh’s bullpen after hitting the injured list back in late June with a left oblique strain. There isn’t an official return timetable yet, but it seems possible he could head out on a minor league rehab assignment soon and return in a couple week after the All-Star break, barring any setbacks.       Mets activated RHP Edwin Díaz from the restricted list.

      Advice: Díaz has finished serving an automatic 10-game suspension handed down by the league after he was ejected back on June 23 for using an illegal foreign substance. The 30-year-old will be back in New York’s bullpen for Saturday’s contest against the Pirates. According to Newsday’s Tim Healey, the Mets’ bullpen recorded a league-worst 8.37 ERA during his absence.       Chisholm went 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 3-2 loss to the White Sox.

      Advice: For the second straight game, Chisholm reached base three times while swiping a base. The 26-year-old has been doing his job of late at the top of the order, slashing .315/.378/.397 over his last 21 games, but he's scored only seven runs over that stretch due to the overall struggles of the Miami offense.       Alex Bregman went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and two walks Friday as the Astros edged the Twins 13-12.

      Advice: Bregman’s seemingly meaningless homer made it a 13-5 game in the ninth before the Twins almost came all of the way back in the bottom of the inning.       Pablo López was tagged for six runs in five innings Friday in a loss to the Astros.

      Advice: López didn’t allow any extra-base hits tonight, but the singles were all bunched together. Four came in a three-run second inning that featured just one hard-hit ball. The remaining three runs all scored in the sixth after he allowed three singles to begin the inning and was pulled.       Bobby Witt Jr. went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in a loss to the Rockies on Friday.

      Advice: Witt Jr. has doubled 25 times in 2024, and he came around to score after his two-bagger Friday on a single by Salvador Perez. He came up just short in the All-Star voting, but barring something completely unforeseeable he’ll definitely be involved in the game with a slash of .321/.371/.559 over his 90 games.     • Cole Ragans pitches well in no decision vs. COL
      Cole Ragans didn’t factor into the decision despite allowing just two runs in seven innings with eight strikeouts against the Rockies on Friday.

      Advice: Ragans did walk three and gave up five hits, but for the most part, it was a very strong outing and a nice bounce back from his struggles against the Guardians (4 2/3 innings, five runs). The left-hander has shown that 2023 was no fluke with a 3.28 ERA and 134/37 K/BB over his 19 starts and 109 2/3 innings of work.
