    • Justin Verlander hit hard in loss to Yankees
Justin Verlander allowed seven run on eight hits over five innings in a loss to the Yankees on Tuesday.

Advice: Verlander also walked three, struck out just two, and gave up three home runs on the day. The 41-year-old simply didn’t have it on Tuesday, allowing a three-run homer to light-hitting Alex Verdugo in the first inning. He allowed a run in four of his five innings on the day and posted just an 11 percent whiff rate and 20 percent CSW. His ERA is now 4.43 on the season and he has 16 strikeouts and 10 walks in 22 1/3 innings on the season. It has not been a particularly effective start, but he should have a much easier time against the Athletics next week. Rotoworld Today, 7:09 pm
    • Gerrit Cole throws another bullpen session Tuesday
Gerrit Cole (elbow) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday.

Advice: Cole is scheduled to throw another bullpen session this weekend and is apparently looking at a mid-June return timetable at this point. The 33-year-old reigning AL Cy Young Award winner should progress to facing hitters at some point in the coming weeks before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. Rotoworld Today, 5:32 pm

    • Another bullpen session
Cole (elbow) completed a bullpen session Tuesday and is expected to throw another bullpen this weekend, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Cole is continuing to progress toward returning after throwing off a mound May 4 for the first time since being placed on the injured list in March. He tossed another bullpen session Tuesday without a setback and is expected to continue to ramp up his throwing efforts in the coming weeks. Cole appears to be on track for an early-to-mid-June return. Rotowire.com Today, 1:29 pm

    • Kirby Yates notches save against A’s
Kirby Yates earned his sixth save with a hitless ninth Monday against the Athletics.

Advice: After settling for a win in a two-inning outing on Sunday, Yates was back closing tonight and had an easy time versus the A’s. David Roberson also pitched in a second straight game tonight, so the Rangers might need to think outside of the box if they have another lead Monday. Perhaps José Leclerc or Josh Sborz could earn a save. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:31 pm
    • Keeps rolling with another save
Yates picked up a save against the A's on Monday, walking one batter in a scoreless inning of work.

Advice: Yates got the ball with Texas holding a two-run lead in the ninth inning and walked the second batter he faced to bring the tying run to the plate. However, the veteran reliever got Brett Harris to line into a double play to end the contest and secure his sixth save. Yates still hasn't given up a run this season, and he's yielded just three hits over 15 innings. After resurrecting his career in Atlanta's bullpen last year, he's emerged as one of fantasy's most valuable closers early in the 2024 campaign. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:57 pm
    • Cole Ragans fans eight versus Brewers Monday
Cole Ragans yielded two earned runs on two hits over six innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Monday.

Advice: It was another stellar outing from Ragans, who now has allowed just four earned runs in his past three starts. The only damage against him came off a Gary Sanchez two-run home run. The 26-year-old southpaw has recorded at least eight punch outs in back-to-back games. After allowing seven earned runs to Baltimore on April 20, Ragans has looked sharp and is a must-start for fantasy managers throughout the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:27 pm

    • Punches out eight
Ragans allowed two runs on two hits and two walks over six innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out eight during the win over Milwaukee.

Advice: The lone blemish on Ragans' line Monday was a two-run shot by Gary Sanchez in the fourth inning. After the long ball, Ragans retired the final seven batters he faced, with three coming via strikeout. He matched his season high by forcing 19 whiffs, with nine coming against his changeup. Since getting hammered for seven runs against the Orioles, Ragans has posted a strong 2.04 ERA and 21:8 K:BB over his last three starts. The 26-year-old will carry a 3.38 ERA into his next outing, which is lined up to be a road matchup with the Angels this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:01 pm

    • Drops appeal, serving five-game ban
Peralta dropped his appeal of a five-game suspension and will be begin serving the ban Monday.

Advice: Peralta was handed the suspension for intentionally throwing at the Rays' Jose Siri in an 8-2 win over Tampa Bay last Tuesday. The right-hander was ejected from that contest, but after appealing the five-game ban, Peralta took the hill Sunday on normal rest and was dealt the loss in the Brewers' series finale with the Cubs. With Peralta ending his appeal, he won't be able to make his next turn through the rotation that would have fallen Friday versus the Cardinals, though he could make his next start as soon as Saturday. The Brewers are likely to either call up Robert Gasser from Triple-A Nashville to start Friday, or the team will treat Friday's contest as a bullpen day. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:35 pm

    • Faces high-leverage situation
Treinen pitched a clean eighth inning while striking out a batter to secure a hold in Sunday's 5-1 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Treinen entered to begin the eighth with the Dodgers holding onto a 4-1 lead and retired Jarred Kelenic, Ronald Acuna and Ozzie Albies in order, needing just 11 pitches to get through the frame. It's clear right off the bat that Treinen has the trust of manager Dave Roberts in high-leverage situations and could be in the mix for the Dodgers' closer committee while Evan Phillips is sidelined with a hamstring strain.
