    • Kirby Yates notches save against A’s
Kirby Yates earned his sixth save with a hitless ninth Monday against the Athletics.

Advice: After settling for a win in a two-inning outing on Sunday, Yates was back closing tonight and had an easy time versus the A’s. David Roberson also pitched in a second straight game tonight, so the Rangers might need to think outside of the box if they have another lead Monday. Perhaps José Leclerc or Josh Sborz could earn a save. Rotoworld Monday, 11:31 pm

    • Keeps rolling with another save
Yates picked up a save against the A's on Monday, walking one batter in a scoreless inning of work.

Advice: Yates got the ball with Texas holding a two-run lead in the ninth inning and walked the second batter he faced to bring the tying run to the plate. However, the veteran reliever got Brett Harris to line into a double play to end the contest and secure his sixth save. Yates still hasn't given up a run this season, and he's yielded just three hits over 15 innings. After resurrecting his career in Atlanta's bullpen last year, he's emerged as one of fantasy's most valuable closers early in the 2024 campaign. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:57 pm

    • Cole Ragans fans eight versus Brewers Monday
Cole Ragans yielded two earned runs on two hits over six innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Monday.

Advice: It was another stellar outing from Ragans, who now has allowed just four earned runs in his past three starts. The only damage against him came off a Gary Sanchez two-run home run. The 26-year-old southpaw has recorded at least eight punch outs in back-to-back games. After allowing seven earned runs to Baltimore on April 20, Ragans has looked sharp and is a must-start for fantasy managers throughout the season. Rotoworld Monday, 8:27 pm

    • Punches out eight
Ragans allowed two runs on two hits and two walks over six innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out eight during the win over Milwaukee.

Advice: The lone blemish on Ragans' line Monday was a two-run shot by Gary Sanchez in the fourth inning. After the long ball, Ragans retired the final seven batters he faced, with three coming via strikeout. He matched his season high by forcing 19 whiffs, with nine coming against his changeup. Since getting hammered for seven runs against the Orioles, Ragans has posted a strong 2.04 ERA and 21:8 K:BB over his last three starts. The 26-year-old will carry a 3.38 ERA into his next outing, which is lined up to be a road matchup with the Angels this weekend. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:01 pm

    • Faces high-leverage situation
Treinen pitched a clean eighth inning while striking out a batter to secure a hold in Sunday's 5-1 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Treinen entered to begin the eighth with the Dodgers holding onto a 4-1 lead and retired Jarred Kelenic, Ronald Acuna and Ozzie Albies in order, needing just 11 pitches to get through the frame. It's clear right off the bat that Treinen has the trust of manager Dave Roberts in high-leverage situations and could be in the mix for the Dodgers' closer committee while Evan Phillips is sidelined with a hamstring strain. • Good to go Monday
Ragans (calf) is listed as the Royals' probable starting pitcher for Monday's game against the Brewers in Kansas City.

Advice: Ragans experienced cramping in his left calf in his most recent start this past Tuesday against the Blue Jays, but he had already tossed 6.2 innings (105 pitches) and likely wouldn't have stayed in the game any longer even if he wasn't experiencing any discomfort. The Royals didn't suggest that Ragans required any follow-up testing, so he's not expected to face any restrictions as he takes the hill Monday for his eighth start of the season. Ragans tentatively lines up for a two-start week, with his second outing expected to come Saturday against the Angels. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:38 am

    • Blake Treinen has highest leverage role on Sunday
Blake Treinen pitched a scoreless eighth inning with one strikeout against the Braves on Sunday.

Advice: The performance is of note because Treinen was tasked with facing Ronald Acuna Jr. and Ozzie Albies with the Dodgers up 4-1 in the eighth inning. He retired both on a combined five pitches. With Evan Phillips on the injured list with a hamstring injury, it’s possible Treinen could emerge as at least part of the closer committee. It was presumed that Daniel Hudson would lead the pack, but he didn’t pitch at all in this game despite not pitching since Friday. He could have been held back for the save, but it’s meaningful to note the hitters Treinen was tasked with getting out; he clearly has Dave Roberts’ trust. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:28 pm

    • Secures extra-inning win
Yates (3-0) earned the win after he pitched two scoreless innings, allowing a walk while striking out two batters in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Royals.

Advice: Yates entered the game in the bottom of the eighth inning with the Rangers trailing 2-1, and he was able to work around a walk to keep it a one-run deficit going into the ninth. After Texas tied it up at 2-2, the right-hander returned for the following frame, setting the Royals down in order. The Rangers went on to win in the 10th inning, earning Yates his third victory of the year. The 37-year-old has yet to allow an earned run this season while posting a 0.50 WHIP with five saves over 14 innings in 12 appearances. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:14 pm

    • Earns sixth save
Bednar allowed one hit and struck out one over a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Sunday against the Rockies.

Advice: Bednar allowed a two-out double but otherwise looked sharp for the second consecutive day as he earned his sixth save Sunday, dropping his ERA to 9.69 and WHIP to 1.46 in the process. Despite the scoreless effort, the Pirates' stopper has allowed at least one run in seven of his 15 appearances this season. Pirate fans and fantasy managers alike hope these last two performances against the listless Rockies will serve as a momentum boost for Bednar, who entered the season as one of the top closers in baseball.
