    • Manny Machado out Thursday with hip flexor strain
Manny Machado (hip) is absent from the lineup for Thursday’s series opener against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: No surprise here after Machado suffered a mild right hip flexor strain during Wednesday’s series finale against the Angels. The 31-year-old third baseman will presumably require a couple days off to rest and recover, but fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. It’ll be journeyman Tyler Wade filling in at the hot corner on Thursday night in his absence. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago

    • Remains out of lineup
Machado (hip) is not in the Padres' lineup versus the Diamondbacks on Thursday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Machado suffered the hip flexor strain during the fourth inning of Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Angels as he hustled to first base in an effort to beat out a double play. The 31-year-old is considered day-to-day, and it seems he has avoided any significant damage. Tyler Wade will start in his place at third base and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Today, 2:49 pm

    • Strikes out seven in no-decision
Bibee allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk over five innings in a no-decision Thursday against the Royals. He struck out seven.

Advice: Bibee allowed just one unearned run through his first five innings Thursday, though he'd be charged with two runs in the sixth after allowing the first two batters to reach. Still, it was another decent effort from the 25-year-old right-hander -- Bibee now has seven strikeouts in back-to-back outings while pitching to a 2.12 ERA over his last five starts. Overall, he's 4-1 on the year with a 3.73 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 76:19 K:BB through 70 innings. Bibee's currently in line for a road matchup with the Reds in his next outing. • Tanner Bibee fans seven, allows two earned vs. KC
Tanner Bibee allowed three runs — two of them earned — while firing five innings in a no-decision against the Royals on Thursday.

Advice: Bibee struck out seven against one free pass, and he allowed six hits. The 25-year-old allowed a run in the first on a double to Vinnie Pasquantino, but he settle down nicely before being charged for a pair in the sixth without recording an out. Bibee has been a slight fantasy disappointment in 2024, but there’s still reason for optimism in both the short and long-term. He’s set to square off with the Reds in Cincinnati on Wednesday. • Clubs homer No. 10
Lindor went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's win over the Nationals.

Advice: The shortstop produced his fourth multi-hit performance in the last seven games as he continues to heat up. Lindor has hit safely in 14 of the last 15 contests, slashing .359/.406/.594 over that stretch with three homers, three steals, seven runs and nine RBI. Rotowire.com Today, 8:48 am

    • Taking seat Thursday
Fry is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Fry will take a seat for Thursday's series finale, as he had been scheduled to head to the bench Wednesday before that game was postponed due to inclement weather. Though his 1.092 OPS on the season ranks first in the majors among all players with at least 140 plate appearances, Fry still hasn't quite locked down a full-time role in Cleveland. He'll be out of the lineup for the second time in three games while the Guardians go with Bo Naylor at catcher and Kyle Manzardo at designated hitter. Rotowire.com Today, 7:20 am

    • Manny Machado (hip) considered day-to-day
Padres’ manager Mike Shildt told reporters after Wednesday’s loss to the Angels that Manny Machado (hip) is considered day-to-day.

Advice: The superstar third baseman suffered a mild right hip flexor strain while hustling down the first base line to beat out a double play in the fourth inning. It doesn’t sound like he’s going to require any further examination or imaging and there’s optimism that he could return to the Padres’ lineup as early as Thursday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:08 pm

    • Receives little help in loss
Gilbert (3-4) allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and struck out five without walking a batter over seven innings, but he took the loss Wednesday versus the Athletics.

Advice: Gilbert can be partly to blame for this loss, as his throwing error on a pickoff attempt put Daz Cameron in position to score on a passed ball in the fifth inning. The Mariners' lack of offense was the other problem, which led to Gilbert taking his fourth loss in his last six outings. He's turned in a quality start in four of those games despite the lack of wins. The right-hander is at a 3.12 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 76:20 K:BB through 83.2 innings over 13 starts this season. Gilbert is projected for a favorable home matchup versus the last-place White Sox his next time out. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:45 pm
    • Considered day-to-day
Manager Mike Shildt said that Machado is day-to-day with a mild right hip flexor strain after exiting in the fourth inning of Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Angels, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. He went 0-for-2 prior to leaving the game.

Advice: Machado suffered the injury while hustling to first base in an effort to beat out a potential double play in the fourth inning. Though he was able to reach base on a fielder's choice, Machado was forced from the game, with Donovan Solano coming off the bench to pinch run for him. Fortunately, Machado appears to have avoided any significant damage, but it's possible the Padres hold him out of Thursday's series opener against Arizona to aid his recovery. The 31-year-old has gone 8-for-22 with four RBI and two stolen bases across his last seven games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:28 pm
